Official 930 Club Replacements Echostage May 8 Show

True, the Philly show is outdoors at Penn's Landing, directly on the river. The weather could suck. As I recall the Radiohead show from a few years ago, the one out at the Lube – the one with the torrential all-night-long rainstorm – was on Mothers Day weekend. May 9 could still be a bit early for outdoor evening shows. Guess we'll find out.
^ venue also has a 10 pm or 11 pm curfew…which could lead to a shorter set w/ 2 openers
Hey gang, just want to thank Bluflower for offering her ticket to me and thank you to hutch for looking out for me. I really appreciate it and thanks to you guys it looks like I'll be able to go to the show.

If anyone else is trying to buy on stubhub or ebay, just wait it out till the prices drop. Everyone will be able to get in.

happy to help! I think as it gets closer, people will have extras!
any more advice on how to smuggle a keg in? how is security? would they be likely to pick up on somebody trying to roll a keg in?

That's funny. Reminds me of the Simpsons episode when Barney brings a keg to Homer's BBBQ (the extra B is for BYOB) and then asks Homer where he can have it filled.
I'd LOVE to go to Philly as Superchunk is opening.  But, wedding in DC on Saturday night, so I'm glad to be going to the Echostage show (thanks Tooms; my computer running slow screwed me up even in the general sale, though I wasn't worried as I figured I'd know folks who got tix, and I've done that for others often).
I'm looking to unload one ticket to this for either face value or a trade for one for Philly.
Just PM'd you

Do we know who is opening this show yet?
so while looking at Craig Finn's page I came across that he's helping out with the Songs For Slim project (which I think is a great cause, great way to do it and I have helped out too )

Craig is participating in a project with New West Records to raise money for former Replacements guitarist, Slim Dunlap, who suffered a severe stroke last year. Currently up for auction is 7" single with Steve Earle doing Slim's "Times Like This" backed with Craig Finn doing Slim's "Isn't It."

A varied group of artists have joined forces to record Slim's songs and release them on a series of limited edition 45s; artists ranging from Lucinda Williams to Jakob Dylan, Frank Black, Deer Tick, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and The Jayhawks among others. A strictly limited number of 100 singles by each artist are being auctioned once per month.

The project was launched in January with 250 copies of a brand new Replacements 10" EP which brought in a staggering total of $106,750.92 in bids.

So my point is….seems like this last two years of touring has …I'd have to imagine …made over a million for the replacements?
I would think at this point, the band could chip in considerably to help out here?
Didn't their record net over $100k to the cause?

I need closure here…who will it be.

Although to be totally honest….I think the plan is to go to Atlas brewery and drink a growler in one sitting and then walk into Echostage as the curtain drops … unless the opener is The Rock Cats

I'm a little concerned my expectations are a little high, but I anticipate this being the show of the year for me
But not because of the opener…..

I will say of all the openers for Mats shows I attended, Fresh Young Fellows were my favorite.

In case anyone is interested google maps says it's only a 16 min walk
plus I'm pretty sure it'd be easier to park there
and for free
I saw Tommy Keane open for them in 1989 or 90.
just got back from LA, saw last nights show at the Palladium….. pretty epic, if not a little short…. played probably 80 minutes or so, but they did squeeze 24 songs in there…. it was a little surprising because the Palladium's website said they were going to play from 9:15 to 11:30, so when they walked off after an hour, I thought they were fucking with us… instead they came back for two encores and finished up at about 10:45…. still a great show and we got a killer opening set from John Doe!!
