I'm listening to the Fratellis album as I write. It's exactly what you would expect from the band that did Costello Music. They certainly didn't get all Kid A on us. But you know what, it's a fun album and will be played a lot in the car this summer.
oohhh glad to hear it. i was just listening to their single. i used to love costello music but i think i played it to death.
im listening to we are scientists right now (why i edited the message) and i must say i just love this album as much as their last album. keith and chris seem to be two of the most likeable people ever. must pick this one up soon. am heartbroken that i cant see them in ny, but i should be able to see them again soon and i did get to see them in december so i cant complain too much.
Not at all liking the new Fratellis album… The slap dash lets get drunk and do drugs feel of the first is gone and now replaced by them trying to sound like any other band but the Fratellis. So its a mix of Piano Ballads, 70s Power Ballads, a song that sounds like Little Man Tate. I'm sure The Darkness is in there somewhere.
I've heard bands ape others to good effect, but not on this record.

"Weâ??re very happy to announce Brightblack Morning Lightâ??s new album and second for Matador, Motion To Rejoin. Release is scheduled for September 23 in most of the world, and November 10 in the UK and Europe
on LP and CD.
N.D. Shineywater and Rachael Hughes recorded the album entirely via solar power in their adobe house in the mesas of New Mexico."
Awesome!

Was panning the new Primal Scream leak, but I've deduced that this is just a loopty-loop red herring and not the finished product. So… criticism FAIL

Look at what I just found!
"On two magical nights– June 22, 2005 and September 12, 2006– punk godmother Patti Smith and My Bloody Valentine genius Kevin Shields took the stage together at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall. Their collaboration was called the Coral Sea, and took both its name and inspiration from Smith's 1996 book The Coral Sea. The book and the performance served as tributes to the legendary late artist Robert Mapplethorpe, who was Smith's close friend. (He took the iconic photograph that appears on the cover of Smith's 1975 debut album Horses.)
Fortunately for those of us who couldn't make those shows, Smith and Shields have put together a double-disc set chronicling the two performances. The Coral Sea will be released on July 11 on PASK, a new imprint run by Smith and Shields."

Rodriguez - Cold Fact
Read a review about this forthcoming re-issue on Paste and was already intrigued about it. The fact that it's being put out by Light In The Attic, who are quickly becoming one the best US labels for re-issues, is a plus. Features guitar work by legendary Funk Brother Dennis Coffey.
But based on the preview MP3 over I'm REALLY looking forward to this one. He's like Donovan with a hint of Nick Drake, Jose Feliciano, Richie Havens all rolled into one. Paste also mention Marvin Gaye, Arthur Lee and of course Dylan.

I've had an mp3 copy of the original that came out in the early 70's for years. Still throw it on from time to time; very nice listen.

And in other E6 news, this just leaked:
The Music Tapes - For Clouds And Tornadoes
"This album spotlights Julian Koster's (Neutral Milk Hotel, Chocolate USA) songcraft and distinctive vocals, his almost religious devotion to the singing saw, and numerous contributions from other musicians in the Elephant 6 orbit. As on previous efforts, recording was done using an array of antique hardware, giving the record a timeless, texturally rich sonic palette."
