Albums you are looking forward to in 08!!!

according to Spin, these bands also have albums coming out in 2008:

no doubt (hence the coachella gig?)
…trail of dead
secret machine (without benjamin)
the roots
spiritualized (yes!)
tapes'n'tapes
the cure (double album to be sold at price of a single album)
bauhaus (broke up, got back together, recorded album, and have since broken up again)

WOLFMOTHER ANYONE??

Can't wait for that one, along with whatever the killers, Keane, and Arctic Monkey's bring out.
The Bauhaus album leaked a while ago. Still yet to hear it.

they highlighted a lot of decent bands, but most of them were already named in this thread so i didn't bother repeating them. they also listed other horrible wallace-approved acts that i skipped, like the all-american rejects and p!atd.

what i posted were the most interesting dregs (not necessarily artistically interesting). i wouldn't mind listening to #5 thru 11 of that list. the other half i could do without.

forgot to add the breeders, and just for you rhett: the new lenny kravitz album has dropped.

but the fact remains: spin does, for the most part, suck.
SWEET!

Someone sent me an actual promo copy recently. Don't bust your ass tracking it down. In my opinion, a couple good tracks but the others aren't doing much for me yet. It rocks more than what you might expect but there's still something just not up to par. I don't know, maybe you would think differently about it.

In other news, The Daysleepers are finally getting their full length out and from what I've heard from it, it's gorgeous. Same with the new Tearwave that will be out on Projeckt Records. Same producer, btw. Both should be stunning.

Oh, and Spc-Eco is putting something out but I think it may only be an EP. Some vinyl from them will be out on my friend's lable but I'm still hoping for much more down the line.
jag, i love your bold names, reminds me of jackie harvey

That guy's a riot. Keith Olberman has him on all the time.

my favorites:

Kudos to those fine folks who make Bugles so consistently delicious…. I just thought of a great question to ask Jan Michael Vincent…. Boy, do I hate this shirt…. What's that guy over there doing?…. The Amish make fine houses…. I wish Freddie Prinze was alive today so we could both laugh…. Some of the most beautiful women in the world work in diners….

There's nothing like breathable black dress socks on a sunny day…. Somehow I got all wet again…. If you look up marmosets in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of a small furry mammal…. Christ, my freakin' head is spinning!…. What was I talking about again? Oh yeah…. Charles Kuralt has worn some of the finest sweaters known to man….
p!atd is now just patd… they dropped the ! and in the process apparently royally ticked off some fans…

that is awesome. probably belongs in "when reality reflects the onion"… i can see it now: "thousands of teenagers riot in reaction to unilateral removal of exclamation point".

although, to be fair, they're probably just pissed off that they now have to ask daddy to buy them a new t-shirt, without the !.

I heard one track from it this weekend and came away with the same impression. It sounded more like a regular rock song than a strong Bauhaus song. Not really bad, just….eh.
You'll have to take MTV's word on this one regarding the PATD fan's reaction to the name change, I already killed enough brain cells reading the reaction comments from your typically fan of a Road Runner Records band to that labels newest band De Novo Dahl.

"But then, last week, something rather extraordinary happened. Bravely â?? and rather inexplicably â?? Panic at the Disco decided to drop the "!" from their name, stemming the tide of exclamation overuse and royally ticking off their loyal (and seemingly nuts) fanbase in the process. The bandmembers tried to play it off by saying the point was "never part of the name to us," and that they axed it because it was "annoying to write." But the damage had already been done … as several of their fans pointed out on sites like PATDOnline.com, the loss of the exclamation point seemed to indicate that Panic were doing everything in their power to put their past behind them (though we're not sure why they'd want to do that.)"

oh and Brian is letting us now seeing as this story hit the NME a couple weeks back..

Thanks for clearing that up; I had no idea who "p!atd" refered to. Given the exclamation point, I had wondered if it was some new African band that the hipsters were drooling over.

I thought it was some new version of pwned, which took me forever to decipher.
