if someone could point me to whereabouts of said Elbow album I would love them long time - I love these guys and have been eagerly anticipating this one
Don't know where the full album is available but the single is up on their MySpace page and tracks are being previewed daily here:

somehow we missed the fact that the B-52's have an new album coming out in late march.

and Barzuk has just announced the new What Made Milwaukee Famous
Cloud Cult's and Mike Patton's albums both leaked today.

The Mike Patton disc is a film soundtrack made up of 40's big band-oriented songs.
The Telescopes just told me today that they have a new album coming out in June. Can't wait!

A friend of mine has an advance of the new Black Angels and says it's really good. Can't wait to hear it myself.
So is it kosher to add your opinions/perspectives on some of these leaks of new albums? C'mon people, let's close some loops here. What are your opinions of some of these new records.

Gutter Twins – Just cannot get into this. Have given it 5-6 exclusive listens, and nothing has taken hold. It's drifting into the nether.

Breeders – Same thing. I really tried but other than a couple crackling pop tunes, it's far too slow and atmospheric. What happened, Breeders?

Times New Viking – I really dig this. Comes out punching, and never lets up. Lots of hooks, lots of fuzz, weird, off-angle, awesome.

Supergrass – I like this okay, though a month from now I'll probably never listen to it again. It's kind of generic up-tempo Britpop, but that's sure as shit better than low-tempo Breeders.

Grand Archives – Like this a lot. It's smooth as silk, with harmonies, and that usually = death for me. But the songs are great, the production is stellar, and I'm really digging it. Well met!

MGMT – Probably my favorite thing of the last few weeks. Super-catchy synth-based psychedelic pop. Good sporto disc too, as it's almost all up-tempo.

Listening to the first single from the new M83. I'm a little surprised. It's a house track with some Ulrich Schnauss-ish melodies on top. Thought he'd pick up where Before the Dawn Heals Us left off but this is a completely different direction.

It's like…club banger meets shoegaze.

Also heard the first three tracks of the new Black Keys and am liking it so far.

I think it's just okay after the first 2-3 listens. They have gotten much more "tuneful" - not that there's anything wrong with that. But now I'm listening to The Big Come Up – much much more to my liking.

The new Dead Meadow is very good. A definite departure from the all-out Sabbath-y stoner rock of their previous albums. It's got some great tunes, but I think I still prefer the older stuff - particularly Feathers.

Times New Viking is great. Fast, loud, and dirty - the same way I like my women.

Glasvegas is great also. To steal a line from the BBC - "like the Jesus and Mary Chain playing the Grease soundtrack."

The new Dirtbombs is okay. Not up there with Ultraglide in Black. But I have always thought the Dirtbombs are better appreciated live anyway.
Tilly and the Wall

New album this summer. They're playing a ton of the new stuff live (just saw the first show of the tour last night), and it all sounds great. All you folks back east should hit up the RnR Hotel on March 18. :)
Hard Candy- Apr 29!!!!!!!!!!!!
had a listen to the new Earth album today - good stuff if you're into stoner drone, psychedelic grunge, apocalyptic post-rock, or whatever the label of the month is. i suspect that it'll be a hit with snailhook and azaghal, relaxer you might like it too. heavy, chugging stuff. are supposed to announce a north american tour someday soon.

and thanks for the MGMT recommendation - had it on today while working, didn't give it my full attention but was definitely enjoyable. looking forward to giving it a proper spin.
That Earth album definitely did not disappoint.

And Bill Frisell fit surprisingly very well on it.

Fleet Foxes full-length leaked.
anybody listen the new NIN album yet?

first nine tracks are free, i'm DL'ing them right now.
Nine Inch Nails presents Ghosts I - IV, a brand new 36 track instrumental collection available right now. Almost two hours of new music composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I - IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.

Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

An exciting partnership and experience regarding this release will be announced soon.
I thought all 36 were free?

Still yet to listen, though.
yes, all 36 can be free depending where you get them - tsk tsk :p
Yep. Saw them in San Francisco last Sunday. New songs sounded great. They're a great live band!

The mash-up of the new Moby LP is pretty friggin' great. Chic meets Donna Summer meets New Order meets Daft Punk…with old Moby (circa 1994, back when he was still great) thrown in. And before you trash Moby, stuff like "Move" and "Everything Is Wrong" is still killer. He's still got good music left in him.
No I didn't mean that at all.
I thought they were all available free officially but could be wrong.

first nine track - i.e. first quarter of the album, ghosts 1 (of 4) - is free. it's $5 for download of parts 2 thru 4, or $10 for the double CD.
I see.

Sounds like a sweet deal, actually.
new Portishead is out on the town
