I just read this. It was in today's news regarding the NHL/Comcast broadcast agreement:

The deal with Comcast goes beyond just television rights. Comcast will bring the NHL Network to cable systems in the United States, and provide on-demand game broadcasts and computer streaming of live games.

You read about it here
good news, thanks
this is a very specific directv question … but without national cable TV coverage, do you think directv will black out the hockey games that are broadcast on the regional sports networks (channel 600s: foxsportsnet ohio2, etc)? i'm guessing they will if they're still offering the center ice package
asked and answerered by me.

no, DirecTV will not allow you so watch the hockey games unless you subscribe to Center Ice.
Is there any word on the fate of the ESPN hockey announcers? Personally, I'd be sad not to hear Gary Thorne on the air. John Davidson would be a good guy to keep around too. Bill Clement is probably okay as long as they don't let him do any Flyers games.

I heard he switched to ABC college football, but I could be mistaken.

Just signed a deal to do color commentary for the Phoenix Coyotes this season.
Good thing I decided to hang on to my autographed Selanne Jersey!

Selanne signs one-year deal with Anaheim
Associated Press

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Teemu Selanne, the second-leading scorer in Anaheim history, returned to the Mighty Ducks on Monday.

The 35-year-old free agent signed a one-year contract. Selanne, a nine-time All-Star, has averaged 37 goals year in 12 NHL seasons.

"We expect Teemu Selanne to be an impact player for us, both on the ice and in the community," general manager Brian Burke said.

"His skating and goal-scoring ability should fit nicely with our new style of play."

Selanne played in 394 games for the Ducks before being traded to San Jose in 2001 for Jeff Friesen, Steve Shields and future considerations. Anaheim acquired Selanne from Winnipeg in 1996.

Selanne's 482 career points ranks second in franchise history behind Paul Kariya's 669. Selanne is also second with 225 goals to Kariya's 300 and third with 257 assists behind Kariya's 369 and Steve Rucchin's 279.

Since entering the league with Winnipeg in 1992, he has 452 goals. Only Jaromir Jagr (478) has scored more.

Selanne won the 1999 Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, given to the leagues top goal scorer, as well as the 1993 Calder Memorial Trophy, given to the league's top rookie. He has twice been named a first-team NHL All-Star and twice a second-team All-Star (1998, 1999).
