today, making cds i want released today - 7
From what I've heard of the new one, it sounds like Summerteeth-era Wilco. A bit slower than their other work. Also, seems to be missing the trumpets. But I haven't heard the whole thing.

Beulah is good. I don't have Heartstrings, but Yoko is similar to The Coast is Never Clear, perhaps even a little more consistent.

BSP was released in the US today. I got them both at Olssons.

Funny you should say that. The second or third song is totally Wilco.

There's another reminiscent of Neil Young. And of course, there's some Beach Boys influences to be heard throughout.

I've only given it one full listen, but I think it's quite good.
well that makes 4 I want, I cant match Jadetrees 7.

Anyone listen to the decemberists new one yet?

Back to Beulah……. No trumpets, bugger. When your heartstrings break was really lifted by the brass section.

its odd, moments of brilliance, and moments that are rather arythmical and atonal. Still the absurdists lyrics really give it a lift.

My wife also bought:

beulah, YOKO
&
The Decline of British Sea Power

I was disappointed on first listen, but I was not really listening that closely.

I posted in Mogwai as you posted this. I think the first Decemberists album has more clear high points to me, 7 out of the 10 songs are really good, nothing jumped out at me like track 8 on the first album although the Chimbley Sweep sounded pretty good if I remember correctly.
I didnt hear a song as good as the architect song either. But as you know, everything always takes me a couple of listens.

just to lay with you, there is nothing that I wouldnt do, 'cept lay my rifle down……….
