Morrissey coming to DC?

MUTHA PH^&*(*^$#@!!!!!!!!! The only reason I didn't go ape shit about the $$$$$$ I wasted flying from Asheville to NYC for the show cancelled on Saturday was because I had tonight to look forward to. I usually blow it off when I've read about his cancelled shows over the years because I've thankfully never had one cancelled on me, but two in a week? What the phuck did I do to the scheduling gawds, I cancelled Werchter to be here for this shit!? Bloody hell.


If there's any silver lining (of course there's not but) it's that a smiths tribute band is still going to play. On Saturday a tribute band based in nyc named The Son & Heirs played BB King's and while it was no substitute, with enough Goldenschlager a good time was had by all, .. Gawdammit.

A free tribute band show will take Moz's place. A nice gesture…but that will not help those who are still ill over the whole situation.

MORRISSEY SHOW POSTPONED!

Morrisseys concert at Rams Head Live scheduled for tonight, the 3rd of July, has been postponed due to illness.

On June 26, Morrissey was forced to leave the stage in Boston after only seven songs. A viral infection had taken its toll on the singers voice, ultimately causing the postponement of that date, as well as dates in Northampton, Philadelphia and New York at Madison Square Garden. With hopes of resuming the tour as scheduled, Morrissey performed last night July 2 at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia. Following that performance, it became clear that Morrissey is still suffering from the viral infection that caused the postponement of last weeks dates. Despite the shows resounding success, the performance took its toll on the singers voice, and unfortunately, Morrissey is too ill to sing again tonight.

Girlfriend in a Coma, Baltimores Tribute Band to Morrissey and the Smiths, will perform tonight for FREE at Rams Head Live. The Band, originally planned to attend tonights Morrissey concert, will celebrate the music of Morrissey in his absence this evening. The four piece tribute act will take the stage at Rams Head Live at 8:30pm. Morrissey ticket holders and guests are invited to join us for this free concert. Rams Head Live and Morrisseys representatives are currently in the process of working on securing a rescheduled date for this performance. We hope to make an announcement soon. Any tickets held for tonights show July 3 will be honored for the rescheduled date. If a ticket holder is unable to attend the rescheduled appearance, refunds will be available at the point of purchase.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we deal with these unfortunate and unexpected circumstances. More information will be made available as it is obtained.

i don't have it in me to do something like that. i just think i should do everything i can to be front row center:
a) i like that spot
b) i'm an idle seventeen year old with no job
c) i didn't have class today and getting by getting there early would mean i could study latin for a long time without thinking of a place to go because i don't know baltimore.
d) a general admission morrissey show doesn't come too often

anyway, it really sucked getting told by the parking attendant that morrissey was too sick to perform.

For what it's worth they ALL usually are. Only pretty hard core fanS can put up with these type of groups, and since this type of fan knows all the lyrics the crowd usually sings louder than the fake moz and with a couple of pints in ya it turns into a big Smiths group karoke, ala Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This is a bummer, but as long as I'm not away during the rescheduled show then I guess I'll live. Might even enjoy it more with a bit of a break between the two shows.

haha, cant wait to hear it! so if/when they reschedule i'll make everyone aware….cause we dont usually have a barricade, that i know of.

but after my experience with the stage jumper during Erasure at MPP a few weeks back, I'll always have my eyes on fools :eek:

ive seen that at every moz show ive been to since the early 90s or so? when has it not been a part of the show when someone (or lots of someones) tries to get on stage with moz and then he leaves the stage 20 mins later :)

and what's the point in the end - to give Moz a hug? to freak him out, or to see if he remains calm while a fan is tackled by the bouncers? or is the point just to say that you're on stage with moz and try lasting as long as possible before being kicked off? i really don't get it.

if i remember correctly, someone was able to jump on stage from the balcony at the club… i suspect there is an arc involved on thatguy's diagram

I remember seeing Morrissey at Merriweather years ago and he threatened to stop the show if the security didn't stop 'throwing' his adoring fans off the stage….needless to say they didn't - end of show!

Jumping up on stage to give the loved one a hug was all part of the show, and the security acted more like traffic cops so it didn't get out of control, but maybe American liability issues don't allow it at all. (fucking lawyers - except smackie)

The backing band was amazingly strong. Finally, the band that he deserves (even if they were dressed like cater-waiters).

My favorite part was the Genghis Khan-style gong that was struck during the end of How Soon is Now.

Saw the tribute band last night . . . . They were surprisingly solid. It was a great time. Met some cool people. People from this board . . . :D But I digress . . . .

After asking 5 die-fuckin-hard Morrissey fans last night for an explanation about the whole stage-rushing thing, I was told it was something that originated during Smiths shows. The Smiths invited people onstage during their shows, so that was the origin of it. After that, it took on a life of its own . . . .

On the flipside of that theory, some cats are just plain crazy. Another guy whom I asked for an explanation said AND I QUOTE,

"Morrissey is like Jesus Christ. The man is a vegan, he's asexual, he does not pollute his body. I just wanted to touch him & feel his pureness. I'm not even gay, but it's just the love. Touch the pureness, release, then let it go . . . "

BTW, this guy above in question will have seen Morrissey 27 times by the end of the tour. :eek: This is not a misprint.
