Morrissey coming to DC?

Cool. Any word on ticket prices for Wolf Trap and Rams Head and when they go on sale? Hopefully I'll be hitting up both!

They go on sale on Saturday, the 31st.

Wolf Trap's website is www.wolf-trap.org and they have the summer line-up on there, with the on-sale for these first shows happening this coming Sat 3/31. However Morrissey isn't listed yet. There's a blurb on the site that says another set of shows will be announced on 4/9, so that's probably when they'll make the official announcment, and the tix for the Morrissey show will likely go one sale the following weekend 4/14. Just keep on eye on the WT website to be certain. Tix are usually sold thru tickets.com but the best bet is to actually go to Wolf Trap and buy them at the box office .. no extra fees that way. Tix for inside the pavillion will probably be in the $40+ range, and lawn will probably be $25. Keep in mind there are no video screens for the lawn at WT. But the lawn at WT is a good time, and you can bring in coolers, food, wine, etc. You just gotta be there when the turnstiles open (around 5:30pm) and score your decent lawn spot otherwise you could be SOL, view-wise. And then you spend your time waiting for the concert drinking and having dinner; definitely the best lawn-concert environment in the area.

Off-brand on sale dates, but whatever. Y'all hit me off with nice info, so here's my contribution back to the lovely community here (included some OT dates for you travelling folk/fanatics as well):

I've never seen Morrissey live, but my wife was a huge Smiths fan. Is it only his solo stuff or Smiths too?

Both. Mostly Morrissey stuff but he throws in 4-5 Smiths songs.

He played a bunch of Smiths songs at the DAR show.

I think those tickets were almost 60 dollars for orchestra, so I expect the wolf trap tickets to be about the same. (that includes ticketmaster "fees")

I wouldn't expect Morrissey ticket prices to top:

I hate to be pedantic but which is it, 4 or 5, or a bunch (which I would classify as in the 8-10 range)?

I would go to hear 8-10 Smiths songs but not 4-5.

If you don't like his solo stuff you should probably stay home. The body of work since The Smiths disbanded is double what The Smiths created, there were tours where he didn't play any Smiths and the fact that nearly a half a dozen creep into the set is pretty remarkable. But this is a Morrissey show, if you want Smiths only there are a number of cover bands or you could just play the albums at home, there are numerous bootlegs that may fill the bill. But it's your lost, The Smiths catalog is superb and I saw them live three times but a Morrissey show is still to be cherished despite what may seem to be a paltry number of songs from the past IMHO.

The body of work since The Smiths disbanded is double what The Smiths created

I most likely will. But then again Wolf Trap is a beautiful setting and we could take the kids, have a picnic, enjoy some wine so maybe it might be worth it for even 5 songs…..

So do we think there will ever be a proper Smiths reunion? (and by proper I mean Morrissey/Marr - I could care less who plays drums and bass)

I don't think there will ever be a Smiths reunion tour, but I never thought there would be a Police reunion either. Then again, I don't think there were ugly intra-Police lawsuits.

A Smiths reunion is the only show that could ever lure me to the Nissan Pavilion or the Virgin festival (not that they would likely play at either; I'm just sayin').

I am a huge smiths fan. But I also love some of Morrissey's solo work too. I saw him in DC the last time he played. I felt it was well worth it. He did like 5 smiths songs, but also did a few songs from early in his solo career (which are pretty high quality too in my opinion)

Whoever said Still Ill was unfortunately wrong, but I've heard that he's been playing that one a lot lately on tour. My friend saw him a year ago in Oklahoma and said he did that song!

To the guy who's debating about going with his wife, just go. I swear it'll be a good time for all. I mean even if you only like his first two or three solo albums, I think you should atleast have a good time. I look at it this way, it's my closest chance I have to seeing the Smiths.

Worth the price of admission right there, though "Headmaster's Ritual" would make it almost perfect (with Johnny Marr's presence required for actual perfection).
