Sleater-Kinney roll call

I'll bet they sell tickets for refunds they've already given. It's highly possible 50 folks have already turned in their stubs, meaning there are 50 tickets that should be available.

dunno about this one… have a hard time believing the club endorsed this, it's great that the band wants fans to get into an other soldout show but at what point will the club be able determined how many tickets are actually available, not all in person refunds will have been provided, etc…

providing the possibility that people could get in they show up in this heat could lead to a real headache for all of those involved.

If I paid cash, I'd be agreeing. No way to prove that. But with a receipt from tickets.com, parking tonight should be free. And really, it still may be, depending on what the final decision is. It just doesn't sit well with me thinking any of my cash may have supported just the RS and not s-k.

I don't think they were tattoos. It was bothering me too, so I went to their website yesterday. The photos from last month showed no sign of tattoos.

I thought maybe they were some crazy sort of pantyhose?

Okay let's see if I can explain this. The parking lot behind the club is owned by Howard University. In the evenings when we have shows it is controlled by E-Park. So while parking tickets are available to purchase in advance it is merely a convenience, not a package deal. Parking there is no different than parking in some lot down the street, except that itâ??s directly behind the club. There is a litany of things that could happen once you park your car that could cause you to leave a show early and miss a performance (you feel sick, you get an emergency phone call, you left something important at home etc. etc.). The point is that when you leave you wouldn't expect your money back from the parking attendant, would you? No, because that money was paid to park your car, not for the show. The two are not connected. If you paid to park you car in a garage because you had a business meeting and then the meeting was cancelled, would you expect your money back even though you never did what you came to do?

What are we to do? Go tell E-Park something like… "Um yea the show was postponed because of something completely out of our hands and we're going to need you to refund everyone's money for parking." They would laugh in our faces, as they should.

That being said, if the show had been cancelled before the night of and no one actually parked their cars in the lot that night, then I would understand the realistic desire for a refund. Under these circumstances though I think itâ??s a bit ridiculous.

i paid to park there once, at the very first show i ever went to at the club (oddly enough, sleater-kinney). now i just park in the alley

a diesel powered generator??? i guess we can add 930 club to those who do not care about the environment (seth- you gonna make a little cash on the side and sell the excess electricity to pepco??). :)

and as far as dcist copying from 930 board. . .really, they do it alllllll the time, right hoya?

If I see fire trucks again tonite in front of the venue, I swear I'm going to sh*t my pants.

I saw a free screening last night of the new version of Black Christmas. Now I never saw the original, but there was a Rogers Sisters poster in the sorority house the chicks were living in. Not that I had a clue who they are/were, just thought it strange that I had saw the name on here quite a bit and then in the movies.

The theater was also right down the street from where SK was playing -Webster Hall (presumably with the aforementioned Rogers Sisters)

definitely not tattoos. i saw her after the show, and they were gone.

That makes a lot more sense, but I still don't think it absolves the club of any connection. How many people park there during shows that aren't there for 9:30? And how many people leave before the main act due to sickness? Oh well. As long as they're doing what they can.

I saw them several months ago opening for (the sounds of) Kaleidoscope and Lilys and very much enjoyed them. Was surprised since I tend to not be much of a fan of the whole Dischord sound.

Look at it this way, you are all getting an extra band for all of your troubles. ;) Good match too for Sleater Kinney.
