Only if they play "The Flame" three or four times.

Agreed on all counts, actually.

everyone was sooooo concerned about whether ticket prices would be higher because of the Police
I post that prices will stay the same and nobody says a word
confirms my suspicion that people just find something to be proud to bitch about
perhaps I will rethink the ticket prices this year

I think bitching about ticket prices depends on what bands are playing ;)

somehow Seth is surprised that 311 and Velvet Revolver arent popular bands wit the regulars on this board.

It depends on the rest of the lineup and how it's split between the two days.

I am planning on going for the original bands announced. SP alone gets me in the building. And I'm grateful ticket prices stayed the same as last year.
That said, 311 and Velvet Revolver make me cringe.

I don't recall alot of (speculative) ticket price bitching to begin with. Cheer up Seth, I'm sure people will turn out in masses.

Why SHOULD the ticket prices be higher? Do the Police charge more than the Who?

Precisely. The only 2 bands I remotely give a rip about are SP and the Police. I've seen the others multiple times. The only way I will most definitely buy a ticket would be if Interpol shows up. It'd also have to be under $125 for a ticket since well, I refuse to pay over $50 for any of those bands except the Police…. as a "newcomer" or thereabouts to this area i can't fathom any kind of festival in the first place but Interpol + either the Police or SP will drag me out if it's under a week's worth of work money wise.

You've seen Amy Winehouse, the Fratellis, and Paolo Nutini multiple times?

couldnt agree more. and i just found some neds shirts that i recently unpacked. my favorite one with "kill your television" written down the sleeve and the lyrics to the song across the back. of course i have another one that reads "did you miss neds atomic dustbin?.. then you f***ed up".. i love it, but somehow i get the most awful looks when i wear it.
i saw both of them in the 90's or so and EMF, while entertaining, were just not nearly as good as Neds would ever be. since they are playing in the UK maybe it just means i should take a trip there as im beginning to think my odds that theyll play any festies here are slim to none.

Hahahaha.
why does everybody seem to hate this festival so much?
I think 311 is a mistake. That choice almost can't be defended.
But Velvet Revolver is a really respectable band. They might not be my favorite band, but they are still well received in the type of music they play. I mean, its a band made up of members of STP and Guns n Roses. As bad as you think they might be, no band consisting of those people can actually be THAT BAD.
I think too many people are under the impression that this is some kind of Indie Festival. It's not. It's a music festival made up of styles from all genres of rock. If you want an Indie festival, I suggest you go check the flyers posted at your local coffee house.
I will agree that as of right now, the Festival last year looks to be better then this year. But that is going to happen. V-Fest is a festival made up of the hottest bands that have new albums coming out. Last summer had a really good string of bands putting out new albums. This summer, doesnt seem to be as strong. So of course the Festival MIGHT not be as strong.
But damn, its a killer Festival in a area that isn't exactly known for being the hot bed of music. It still features one of the GREATEST punk bands ever, one of the BEST bands of the 90's, and one of the best bands ever/hottest tour of the summer. Along with a lot of bands that will at least be fun to hear. Just be thankful that this Festival is coming to such a HORRIBLE music area to begin with, and hope they bring it around next year too.

I guess I agree to an extent. I purchase one NAD album on cassette and zero EMF, back in the day.
But try listening to NAD now and and no doubt you'll be asking yourself, "What the hell was I thinking."
