V Fest

Does anybody else just wish VFest would just go away, so you could just see the two or three bands you really want to see in a more intimate setting at a lower cost on separate days? (i.e. the Raconteurs last year, Amy Winehouse this year, etc.)
When did we hear that Amy Winehouse was playing?
so its:

Police
Smashing Pumpkins
Beastie Boys
Modest Mouse
Velvet Revolver
Fountains Of Wayne
Silverchair
Booka Shade
Sasha / Digweed
not sure where everyone got this Silverchair idea, but it was news to me

Thank you Virgin Festival Gods.

They could stop now and I'd be pretty happy.

so cool.

can we get Fishbone too?

you all better go to this show so there'll be an even better one next year!!!
Wish you could have gotten the White Stripes, but oh well.
Would LOVE to see Queens of the Stone Age added.
Maybe even Eagles of Death Metal. Don't think they have a new album coming out, but they fit in so perfectly with the atmosphere of V-Fest.
Other bands with new albums in 07:
RadioHead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gnarls Barkley, Oasis? I know all of them outside of Gnarls Barkley are probably a pipe dream, but one can wish.
Please don't add Panic at the Disco, or any of the bands like that with new albums coming out.
GREAT JOB SO FAR, can't wait for the rest of the lineup!!!!!!
didnt Gnarls Barkley suck enough last year?

So they're playing Lolla and V Fest?
In enormous UGH news:

311 announced their summer tour and has no DC/Baltimore date but has an 8/5 "TBA on 4/27" date that would fit VFest geographically with the rest of their tour.

Say it ain't so.
I heard KEXP playing 311 the other morning. First time I had ever heard them, they were pretty putrid.

If there's any band one could book to turn VFest into a topless, fratboy, pot-smoking HFStival-esque event, it's 311.

no way! OAR tops 311 in that respect by a MILE!!! and being from the area, OAR would attract so many more fratboys than 311 would anyway. i think Dave Matthews might top 311 too.
The thought of topless fratboys makes my skin crawl.

and i thought the velvet revolver contingent would be enough to fill the drunk idiot quotient….please not 311 seth, please… :(
perhaps there will be a topless fratboy stage, where all these bands will play back to back

isnt modest mouse popular with fratboys these days as well?

in FACT, which band on this lineup would you say fratboys DONT like? the beastie boys? smashing pumpkins? the police?

hmmmmmmm

One useful tidbit this may be telling us is that the lineup will be unveilied on 4/27. Other than that, Sunday on the mainstage is gonna be awful, I'll be running far, far away from 311 and Velvet Revolver.
311 didn't used to be horrible, I liked them in the club scene.

Vfest to me only has 2 bands I'd want to see (SP/Police) and definitely would not pay to see any of the others as repeats. :(
