It basically roped me off from the stage like 75 yards away, & gave me the privilege of access to fuckin' Patron & crab cakes. I did meet Sir Richard Branson's son twice, & probably passed by Seth a couple of times and didn't know it. (I have NO idea what Seth looks like.) VIP tix were $250 a pop, and you couldn't get singles. So really $500. $540 with the bullshit service charges. I was promised a roped off area IN FRONT of the stage, and what I got is fucked and placed 75 - 100 yards from the stage in the so-called VIP area. Which they were letting every Tom, Dick, & Harriet into any fuckin' way. The people who paid $100+ had a WAY better view than I did.
Needless to say, I'm still hot as fuck over that whole ordeal. I don't mind spending good money but I hate being lied to. I don't know if it was I.M.P. or Virgin that dropped the ball on the whole VIP thing, but it put a SEVERE black eye on what could have been an otherwise perfect day. I'm still aggy about that shit . . . .
Can anybody PM me Seth's e-mail????? Please????!

hum, i would argue that… the people who fought their way to the front and endured a complete lack of personal space (and crab cakes) might have had a better view. wasn't the VIP thing raised off the ground? i dove in and got a decent view for a few acts, but it was hard work, you couldn't leave, and there was much shoving and crowd surfing to endure. you were shoved into the person in front of you who was inevitably taller, blocking your view. consequently, most of the festie was spent watching the stage from a far distance because getting close was too much of a hassle. i totally understand you questioning whether the VIP thing was worth the 2.5 times mark-up, but please don't think that the pit was a club med :) i assure you that your 75-100 yards was closer than i was able to get to the main stage all day.
seth will probably be reading this, so let's be constructive: what would you expect for that VIP price? a front-row lawn-chair ain't gonna happen, so…

Ideally, in my mind, VIP would have access to seperate bars (perhaps full bars not beer gardens), seperate bathrooms, and perhaps access to some of the restaurants within Pimlico's facilities.
I don't really know what there is to offer aside from that.

Any chance the beers might be cheaper this year? Besides the parking debacle, that was the only gripe I had. Also, I thought it seemed pretty crowded (especially when you went to the larger stage) considering that it was only half full. I can't imagine what a pain in the ass a sold out 2007 show might be like.

vip areas should (and do) normally include
1. seperate bathrooms
2. seperate bars / food
3. a vantage point to watch the bands from, not always close, but usually raised up (or on a hill, in Coachella's case) so even the shortest of folks can see, maybe even while sitting.
VIP is maybe the wrong term, but it does let you enjoy the concert, without feeling like you're right in the middle of it.
maybe VOP = Very Old People

Did anyone experience a hassle free motel stay for V fest last year? Preferably one within walking distance of the show or close enough for a short cab or public transit drive. I'm looking for lodging suggestions. Anybody?

I had a blast last year and will probably attend this year if the rest of the lineup fills out nicely. Not exactly crazy over the headliners at this time. The parking situation was a COMPLETE joke, I will have to say. Paid for a "special" pass and STILL had to park a mile away. Better get that situation under control.

i dunno if the vip tickets were cheaper they might be worth if worth for a "better" vantage point, because by the time The Who hit the stage getting any sort of view if you were working your way back and forth was impossible. The heat from the bodies near the main stage made it hard to enjoy the show…

I went to V fest last year, from what i remember by the time The Killers hit the stage i made my way back, i skipped out on GNarls to get food and use the potty and walk around, THe Killers seemed to start the crowd packing. Getting back up front was a bitch, a bunch of angry drunk 7 foot tall guys like "SAY EXCUSE ME FUCKHEAD" and i was like whatever. And i was about 50 or 60 feet from the stage when The Who went on and it was like torture, everyone knew their set was ending and was shoving to get up front for the Peppers. I couldn't breathe and was hot as hell so i hopped the rail. I wanted to see the Peppers but was wondering "How often can i see The Flaming Lips!?", so i hit the second stage and made it right up front with no problems.
I'm going this year regardless of the line-up, but if they add Daft Punk….oh…its fucking on.

I was not happy with the VIP experience either last year…actually felt bad for people
Left it in the hands of others, and didn't realize what it had become until it was too late
My apologies to those who trusted us
I am going to fix it

Excellent news Seth… My brother is bummed at the thought of seeing The Police in a festival experience but maybe some VIP treatment will encourage him to see the show. All I need for a good summer festival experience is shade to sit in occasionally and lots of water.

If this festival is $190 before service charges, it will be completely ludicrous.
