FREEFEST 2011

I wish the Black Eyed Peas would have been raptured.

What's the date for the 2011 FreeFest… is it definitely Sat. 9/24?

It doesn't say on the website (it just shows last year's lineup).

Foos aren't too big. Maybe it was mentioned but the guys played the fest when it was at pimlico & were on the second stage

It wasn't obvious which was the main stage and which was the small stage but I'd say Foos were on the main stage in '08. Or at least the main attraction that day. They had like 5x the crowd Jack Johnson had. Also they are billed 2nd at Lolla this year (ahead of Coldplay and Muse) and 1st at Sasquatch. That's a pretty big deal.
I am certain a lineup like this would not happen (and the given amount of bands) but I'll post it regardless:

Foo Fighters
Dropkick Murphys
All That Remains
Trust Company
Soundgarden
Rev Theory
Daft Punk
The Airborne Toxic Event
Social Distortion
Killswitch Engage
Trivium
Danzig
Queens of the Stone Age
Hollywood Undead
Rise Against
Glassjaw
Thursday
Death Cab For Cutie
Sublime With Rome
Incubus
Beastie Boys
Stone Temple Pilots
Arcade Fire
Primus
The Sword
Opeth
NOFX
The Chemical Brothers
Cage the Elephant
Jimmy Eat World
Korn
Mumford & Sons
And a part two. Again, I am certain a lineup like this would not happen (and the given amount of bands) but I'll post it regardless:

Dredg
Skindred
Franz Ferdinand
Cold
Kottonmouth Kings
Anthrax
Thrice
Wilco
Dragonforce
Alice Cooper
Evanescence
New Found Glory
Wolfmother
The Used
Van Halen
Paramore
Suicidal Tendencies
Kittie
The Mars Volta
Modest Mouse
Rush
Staind
ZZ Top
Kaiser Chiefs
Depeche Mode
Gym Class Heroes
Jedi Mind Tricks
Dream Theater
Jane's Addiction
The Cranberries
Dr. Dre
Lostprophets
The Offspring
Pennywise
Testament
Portishead
Chickenfoot
My Morning Jacket
Seether
Flogging Molly
Volbeat
Arch Enemy
Five Finger Death Punch
nope . . . this year belongs to reo speedwagon, bitch.
REO Speedwagon is the new Tony Bennett.
Seeing as half those bands are already playing MPP or almost as big area shows on their own in the coming months, it seems highly unlikely to be a real Freefest lineup.
Chickenfoot. lol.
when will we hear what the lineup is?

the better question: when will the freefest be? we don't even know the date of the fest!
can you imagine if the line up was

depeche mode
chickenfoot
staind
the offspring
the cranberries
kottonmouth kings
stone temple pilots
wilco
flogging molly
jimmy eat world
korn
hollywood undead
last year we got Temper Trap, Ludacris, Matt & Kim, and Edward Sharpe alongside Pavement and LCD Soundsystem….what's the difference?

i'm probably one of the few who thinks this and is willing to admit it, but that isn't a terrible festival lineup.  i'd be interested in DM, offspring, cranberries, STP, wilco, FM and JEW.  i'd probably check out 10 minutes of korn and/or chickenfoot, if scheduling allowed, out of morbid curiosity.  that leaves 3 bands out of 12 that i have no interest in.  any festival with a 75% hit rate is ok with me.
yeah . . . i'd watch and probably enjoy about five, so there you go.  i'm in.  hagar will be pleased.

Freefest wouldn't have to be anywhere near that high for me.  Last year I went to see Pavement and LCD. Anything else was a bonus.
So September 10 with TV on the Radio and who else?

There's a show the very next night. Not ruling out that weekend, but it will be quite the cleanup effort if it happens.
