At least one more workday of my wife and daughter yelling at each other while I hide in the basement and my dog hides in his crate.

Just read that 95 northbound into dc was shut down for 7 hours in the middle of the night with 1000s of people stuck in their cars

Hundreds of vehicles, carrying thousands of people, are still stranded. Some have reported been at a standstill for over 16 hours
My massively paranoid friend who was one of people that legitimately didn't leave his house for 18 months refuses to fly… we'll, his family made the wise decision to drive to Florida for the holidays (with a toddler and eight year old), as of last night they were setting up shop in a roach hotel outside of Richmond that probably has it's own variant brewing indoors.

From a friend stranded on I-95 in Virginia for 20 hours:

“We have to find a way to get national guard here. Diabetics and babies down here. People are going die here.”

Dang, we even had a VA Senator stuck in it
Tim Kaine@timkaine
I started my normal 2 hour drive to DC at 1pm yesterday. 19 hours later, I’m still not near the Capitol. My office is in touch with
@VaDOT
to see how we can help other Virginians in this situation

FCPS closed Thursday. With more snow Thursday nighy, no doubt closed Friday. Taking ng 14 yo for booster Friday. Thanks Mother Nature, FDA, and CDC. We'll all be boosted for Omicron.
Don't think it is appropriate to call you 14 year old by that slur.

Ha…I think you are right…

APS Alert
CODE 1: All APS schools and offices will be closed on Thu, Jan. 6. The primary and neighborhood roads in Arlington are clear and our schools are ready; however, due to the closure of most neighboring school divisions and the impact of those closures on our staffing, APS will also be closed on Thu, Jan. 6, 2022.

teachers and staff can't afford to live in arlington, so live in 'backwoods fairfax county' and have to deal with their kids since lame fairfax county decided to close their schools
Yup… that’s what happened (combined with covid)

I think with the latest surge…schools were happy to have an excuse to close
Still not sure why it wasn't virtual

New state law. First five snow days of the school year are snow days. All snow days after that are virtual.
“Virtual school”….. what an apt term… what a contradiction
FCPS closed again tomorrow. Fifth straight day.

Only three of the days were actual instructional days. Two of the days (Thurs and Fri) were relgious observance days, meaning no new material can be taught on those days….total bullshit, but that's another story….I probably would have kept my kid home Thurs and Fri anyway.
