Paxman quizzes Russell Brand on the cult of celebrity: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/newsnight/9053238.stm

brand is a very intelligent, eloquent, and ultimately self-aware individual.  who'd a thunk it.

I'm anti-Brand right now until I get over the fact that he nabbed Katy Perry.  I hope there's a Deryck Whibley status in his future.
It only took ten years, but here's your new Rival Schools:

John Legend and the Roots doing Arcade Fire's "Wake Up"

http://pitchfork.com/news/40192-watch-john-legendthe-roots-cover-arcade-fire/

The Roots and John Legend just came out with a vintage soul covers album named Wake Up! after the famous Arcade Fire song. But they don't cover Arcade Fire's "Wake Up" on the album. But they did play "Wake Up" when they hit NYC's Terminal 5 last week. Spike Lee was there to tape it as part of Vevo's "Unstaged" series, and you can watch it below:

i've seen the Cirque and chinese acrobats do similar, but it was always with a double-wheel that had handles.  this is a whole new level.

apologies for wanting to encourage a small-time artist (with huge potential) from back home.  i should have gone on auto-snark, as everyone else seems to when commenting online.
So I sang a few lines of this one at the breakfast table yesterday. And later in the car, I put on the cd and played it. And my three year old hears the song and says "Daddy, it's your song!"

Perfect song for the season
