what're your thoughts on this?
i found great seats on the upper deck red line for $100 each for game 7 of the rangers series… craigslist is looking like it might take double that to get similar seats
i'm thinking about just going down to the arena and scalping the night of

Yeah, prices are about $200 right now for 400 level seats…too much for me. I got into game 7 against the Rangers for $100. I'd thought about going down to that game and seeing what I could dig up, but I didn't see a single person selling tickets. TONS of people looking though. Granted, I wasn't really looking cuz I had my seats, but there were an awful lot of people with their fingers in the air looking for seats.
If you strike out at the arena, there's a few decent places close by to watch the game though.

pens/caps series doing monster ratingsFSN Pittsburgh earned a massive 21.38 rating for Saturday's Game 5, the highest-rated NHL game on any FSN regional sports network. Versus recorded a 1.2 rating during its national telecast of Game 2, making that the highest-rated and most-watched second-round game on cable since 2002.

anyone have any comments on the Scott Walker sucker punch now that we're talking dirty plays?
Surely Lucic or Brashear would be suspended. Is this me being a Homer or what?
That replay doesn't show it but he was also the third man in too. Ward was locked into a scrum with Cullen when Walker got there. That's why Ward was just standing there - he was already battling with Cullen and didn't think he had to watch out for a haymaker from Walker.
I'm shocked they rescinded it. I was watching it live and thought for sure he was going to miss the next game - I even told Smackette how stupid that was because they could avoid a game 7 and they need him.

Sadly it's all about Ovie, I wish we had someone similar to Crosby for Malkin, or vice versa. I've always considered Semin Ovie's right hand man. Honestly though it should be "Varly & The Capitals take on Sid and the Pens"
He's the only reason we haven't gotten 15 goals scored on us in 3 games and lost the series last night or sooner.

Semin has great puck handling skills and he skates well, but Crosby just skates so low and hard. If Semin could toughen up, he could be a sort of "Crosby lite", but he's just not that strong. Maybe he'll get stronger and tougher as his career moves on and opposing players will leave him alone a little more. Cuz now they just bash on him and then he gets pissed and takes bad penalties.

i think if the caps improve their defenseman (i know green is hurt) that will go a long way toward making them a better team

What's more, I think the game is going to come down to offense. Specifically, I think the team that is able to score more goals than the other one will win the series.

I dunno…I think defense will decide this contest. Whichever goalie allows the fewest to get in will come out on top. That's my prediction.

They just showed the video again of the Walker haymaker at Ward and I just realized that Ward still had his gloves on. You don't punch a man with his gloves on. Chicken shit - he shouldn't be out there.
And with that, I'm going to go lock myself up in my room and wait for game 6.
With a 6 pack.
And maybe a bottle of whiskey.

Heres a great article. I still cant figure out how that punch doesnt get you a game suspension but "sloppy-seconds" - oh god forbid. with the way the nhl is making these calls, i suspect to see a lot more steve moore vs bertuzzi in courts.

a long-shot question: can anyone recommend a bar to watch hockey in NYC? preferably one where i could hear the commentary? i watched the games last night at a place with gorgeous hi-def screens, but had to endure top-40 hitz over the PA. ugh.
