to be fair, i dont know that i think the pens are going to win the series, but i do feel better about it as opposed to last year. injuries, wings penalty kill not performing, and malkin playing better being the main factors

The only injury that worries me for Detroit is Datsyuk. He's the only one they're saying might not be in for game 1 (except Draper who looks like he's out for the season), but he is at least skating.

It'll be nice to see Chelly and the cup together once again.
You only have to play in one playoff game to get your name on the Cup, doesn't have to be a Finals game.
And it's Cheli, not Chelly.

Question: What is the criteria for a player to get his name on the Stanley Cup?
Answer: The Stanley Cup is the only trophy in pro sport that bears the names of players, coaches, management and staff from the winning teams.
Prior to 1977 only players who had completed the Stanley Cup playoffs were eligible. Today, players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup. The NHL makes exceptions for players who do not meet the standard because of injury or other extenuating circumstances.
Link?
I stand corrected.

More Chelly
As the media horde surrounded Chris Chelios after this morning's pregame skate, Red Wings teammate Kris Draper couldn't resist.
"Chelly, sing 'O Canada,'" Draper said.
Chelios, 47, was in high demand today after the Jeremy Roenick-fueled controversy yesterday, in which the San Jose Sharks veteran went on Chicago radio and said Babcock wasn't playing Chelios because the coach didn't like Americans and certainly didn't like Chelios.
"J.R. is J.R.," Chelios said. "The NHL would be boring without J.R. There's nothing to it. … I'm very happy in Detroit, always have been. J.R. says stuff – what are you going to do?"
Chelios heard from Roenick yesterday.
"He called me. He said he was sorry," Chelios said with a laugh.
Babcock and Chelios spoke about it this morning.
"I was sitting at the pancake place with the coaches this morning, and Chelly walked over and said, 'I think I should bring you an apple,''' Babcock said. "First thing I did was phone my kids, because I got a couple of American kids, and tried to give them a hug over the phone because you don't want them to think their dad doesn't like them.''
All joking aside, Babcock didn't hide his feelings when asked whether Roenick's comments bothered him.
"Yeah, it bothered me, because it's a blatant lie."
Chelios denied any kind of rift exists with Babcock.
"Never had an issue or problem with him in four years he's been here," Chelios said. "I think the only coach I ever had an issue with was Mike Keenan, but he liked the confrontation. It's been a great relationship here. No complaints."
OK, then. Can we all move on now?

OK onto the finals predictions…
I'll take whoever wins four games first to win the cup!
But seriously, lets go out on a limb and say pens in 6.

Wings in 6
If Chicago could pull off a win, I think the Pens should be able to maybe get 2.

Next to The Victors, I think Don't Stop Believin' is becoming may 2nd favorite sports song. Will never under stand why we don't play Papa Hobo late in games though.
It's beginning to look alot like 2008 again, everywhere you goooooooo….

other than the line about the boy being born & raised in south detroit, i don't understand how the wings can get away with playing this song. "don't stop believing" is the underdog's song - when george mason had their improbable run to the final four, or when the red sox came back from 0-3 to beat the yankees in '04… those were "don't stop believing" moments. that the team with the second-best record in the west makes it to the finals isn't exactly a stretch.
jules, are you in hockeytown this weekend?
Sweetcell, you're overthinking it. "Don't Stop Believing" is the number two song for any occasion. I want it played at my funeral.
Now, back to the Penguins are making Osgood look like a god because the don't have anybody tough enough to put in front of the net. He's got a clear look at every puck heading his way.

Unfortunately no, but living it up huge here!
And Osgood is coming up huge. Someone give this guy the Conn Smythe already!
