My dream series: Pens vs Caps. Like I said very early: it's showcase hockey: up & down the ice - olympic-esque. If only the Caps would do their part…

Best stategy in the East?: drop to #6.
Canadians/Bruins would be an embarrassment too. Pens/Sens would be a dream 4/5 series.
If the Wings stay healthy its theirs to lose. I don't think the Ducks can repeat. But I love watching Teemu.
Someone needs to take the Devils out quickly so boring to watch.
Caps miracle would be making the last spot and playing the Sens.

You know what sucks about hockey…or American sports in general? It's the same teams in the same division year in year out. Why can't they have divisions where you get promoted and demoted? And I don't buy the 'our country is too big' argument, you could promote and relegate within the eastern and western conferences.
If the two best teams in the country are in the same conference…there's no way the two best teams in the country will have a chance to play in the final playoff series.
Make sense???

because the owners pay hundreds of millions of dollars to start franchises, where as prem teams started as clubs
arent there rumors that the prem will end relegation in the next 5 years. hope not

A couple years ago, when the Caps lost the first round to the Canes, I was able to get a playoff ticket to MCI Center on the day of the game.
That's right: face-value, from the ticket booth, on the day of a playoff game. Sad, really.
Last time I went to Verizon Center, to see the Caps (unfortunately) beat the Rangers, I got no end of abuse as I was walking out. Some brilliant hockey mind shouted at me that the Rangers suck, to which I replied, "See you in the playoffs…OOOPS! Sorry! Guess not!"
It's always nice when predictions come to pass. Go Rangers! Caps are folding like a paper bag. :(

ok - so it's a little long for a slogan.
Hey slappy - you seem to know a little about hockey (note emphasis). Got a question for you.
I know Backstrom is in the running for rookie of the year. Every point helps. Does he get credit for the own goal?

I was @ that Pens v. Flyers game that went to 5 OTs.
Never seen anything like. I still shudder when the zamboni comes out. Only thing you could get @ 2:00 a.m. was twizzlers.
I left the game - went home - showered - & left for a 7:00 am meeting.
My signif other still hasn't been back to a game. It ruined her.
And it killed the Pens in that series…
i thought you were going to say the 4 ot game that the pens won in 96 (against the caps). that nearly ruined a final in college for me
Originally posted by god's shoeshine:Keith Primeau (an ex-Wing) won it for the Flyers, if I remember correctly. Pens were up 2-0 in the series, that goal tied it at 2-2, Flyers won in 6.
didn't the penguins lose that one?

Those games are so strange - if your team wins: elation. Lose & it's devastation.

My best Pens v. Caps game. Featuring our beloved Gonchar contributing to an OT series winner:
Straka OT
winner ices Caps
CBC Sports
Sitting on the Penguins' bench in overtime, Martin Straka decided to take a page from the Babe Ruth playbook.
"Marty made the call on the bench before we went out there," said linemate Alexei Kovalev. "He said, `We're going to get one."'
Moments later Straka stole the puck from Washington defenceman Sergei Gonchar and made no mistake on a breakaway as the Pens eliminated the Capitals from Stanley Cup contention with a 4-3 win at Pittsburgh's Mellon Arena on Monday.
<img src="http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/topstory/lemieux0423.jpg" alt=" - " />
It was Straka's first goal of the series.
With the win, the Penguins take the series 4-2 and advance to an Eastern Conference semifinal date with the Buffalo Sabres.
Kovalev, Mario Lemieux and Robert Lang also scored for Pittsburgh. Brendan Witt, Jeff Halpern and Calle Johansson replied for the Capitals.
Rookie goalie Johan Hedberg was solid again between the Pittsburgh pipes. The former Manitoba Moose (IHL) netminder turned aside 28 shots for the win.
Olaf Kolzig made 31 stops in a losing cause.
The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to have the Washington Capitals' number come playoff time. It's the sixth time the Pens have disposed of the Caps in seven post-season meetings.
The Capitals' undoing was a lack of scoring punch. Washington managed just two even-strength goals in regulation, both in Game 6. Adam Oates, who tied Jaromir Jagr for the regular season assists lead, didn't record a point in the series.

Here's some little rules of the game. If you're gonna slag on another team make sure you have the facts right. (I know the Pen fans still haven't figure it out yet. But they're very slow … I think its the water in the shit hole that is Pittsburgh.)
The Caps have NEVER played the 'Canes in the playoffs.
'Folding like a paper bag'? Tool, the Caps were 8-17 for the first two months of the season and now have chance (however slight) to make the playoffs.
No, I'm realistic. I know the team right now hasn't a chance in hell to make it past first round. I'd rather continue to grow with a higher pick.
The Caps have learned you don't win Cups by throwing money at the best available free agents. A teams foundation is best built through young talent playing and growing together. Maybe the Rags will learn that someday.
The Caps are the second youngest team and close to the playoffs.
Don't worry I won't shit on all you tools in few years when you want jump on the Caps bandwagon. Just don't be douche bags to other fans. And if you do … know what fuck you're talking about.

Again, take your toys and play somewhere else. You'll like me much better. I might even stop posting about the shit hole that is Pittsburgh.
You should change your name to 'I'm Slappy's Slave" 'cause thats what you are by coming back for more.
