All I can say is the title of this thread is really misleading.
Only fans from Pittsburgh and Buffalo come to near orgasm at the site of a fellow fan outside of their respective cities.

Originally posted by god's shoeshine:Back in the day I can remember Caps fans being outnumbered by most other teams at the old phone booth, it wasn't so bad at the original Capital Centre but once they moved into DC I think they lost quite a bit of their Baltimore area fan base. Canucks especially would show up anytime a Canadian team was in town, and very well behaved too I might add. The Wings sheeple (more recent years Pens bandwagoners) didn't cause much trouble, and the NY fans just obnoxious and loud, but what's new, they're New Yorkers!! Flyers fans are just a bunch of wankers and I had cause to kick the crap out of one after a playoff game against the Sens. I had fun with the Bruins fans because it was always good banter.

What you have to understand is DC is a very transient city so there's going to plenty of 'away' fans that actually live in DC. The Dolphins have a similar problem evidently…if you go to Dolphin Stadium if the Giants or Jets are in town the Dolphin fans are the minority.
that and dc isnt much of a hockey town

See you on Sunday.
2007-08 Hart Trophy = Evgeni Malkin.

1. There is no Santa
2. Caps attendance is continuing to do well.
Last two games have been a sellout and close to sellout. And how soon we forget, the rabid Pen's fans were close to losing their team to KC last year. And hey? What was Pittsburgh's attendance like just a few years ago? Oh yeah…that's right!
3. Photo with boss…Creepy

No Sidney, that's not a pen in Mario's front pocket.

4. Malkin getting the Hart? Bwhhaaa. haaaa. Let me know when he can beat Ovie's stats - Ranks in the NHL (through Monday's games): first in points, first in goals, first in PPGs, tied for first in GWGs, first in shots, 12th in hits, sixth in takeaways
Thanks for playing along.
Can't wait to see all 50 gagillion billion Pen's fans at the next game. Hope they make enough cotton candy for you all.

That said, AO would be my #2 vote.
Not to sound like a total hockey nerd, but who do you guys like for the Selke? I think Datsyuk and Heatley is the best race in YEARS.
Penguins fans are the biggest bandwagoners in American sports.

Doesn't this mean that the Caps are…um…not very good?

There was no kidding in my post, even the part about the man/boy relationship of Mario and Sid.
- If you go back and look at my posts, NOWHERE do I say the Caps are 'very good'. They will be lucky to make the playoffs, but they do have a shot.
-If they do get lucky and meet the Sens in the first round, there is a good chance on them going to the second round to then be eliminated.
-Just looking at the Conference Standings doesn't tell the whole picture. Their record is MUCH better since changing coaches in November.
Selke could be tough to pick this year, I could see Datsuk, Zetterberg, Heatley, or even Iginla getting it.
Originally posted by slappy:Yeah, those four have been awesome this year, but I'd list Iginla a distant 4th, personally. I think the Wings organization is pushing Datsyuk (who, by the numbers alone should win this thing) over Zetterberg for consideration , so hopefully their won't be alot of vote splitting between the two. Definitely an interesting race to watch.

I don't know how anyone could catch him. Puh-leeze….
A. Ovechkin = 90 points
E. Malkin = 89 points

the pens issues had to do more with the city being broke and the civic arena sucking than with the amount of fans they have
i wish dc was a better hockey town, and hopefully things are looking up. harder to find tickets to sunday's game than it was for the game back in the fall. that one was pretty sparcely attended
my favorite part was when the manchester united supporter calls out the pens fans for being bandwagoners. hahahahaha

You're gonna use the percent capacity, the biggest grain of salt in all of the ESPN attendance 'stats' as a rebuttal? You do realize if an arena really was at 120% capacity it would be a fire code violation. Ever notice the Rangers home attendance as been exactly 18,200 for every game this year?
The ESPN attendance stats are complete BS. The only thing to take from them is the teams at the top are doing well, the bottom … is just that. Everything in the middle is murky at best.
Pitt and Buffalo fans commenting on Caps attendance is a complete joke when you also look at their success to attendance ratio. Hell, I have more respect for Flyer's fans after seeing them continue to fill their arena even when they stunk the last few years. And they don't act like complete douche bags.
yes, i wish we could all be like philly fans
do you have a source for your attendance figures that isnt the owners blog?

In the EPL Chelski are the bandwagoners/johnny come lately's. United have had millions of fans from around the world for years regardless of wether they were winning trophies or not.
