The Penguins problems with surviving financially in Pittsburgh aren't centered around fan support but the fact that even when their arena sells out, because of its diminutive size, they're barely financially viable. If they'd get a larger venue and keep the current level of fan support (which they will with the offensively exciting team they have), they'd become a top 5-8 financial market easily… unless their lease was crazy or something.
For All You Caps Fans
Originally posted by BookerT:No, we're good, man. I still have it on VHS and can relive the memories of watching it on my Detroit REd Wings: A Celebration Of Champions DVD boxset.
i'll sell you that memory/story, kramer-peterman style, julian. how much you willing to give me for it?
I've never gotten to see the Cup presented, but I have attended at least one game in the Cup finals for each of the Wings 4 modern cup finals appearances, including Game 3 vs. Carolina which was that triple OT that Larionov finally won in the middle of the night.
And the guys name was Vladimir Konstantinov. He was a beast, and I remember the city being crushed when he got in that limo wreck after winning the Cup the first time. :(
When Lindstrom retires and they retire his number, they need to officially raise the #16 to the rafters as well.
the salary cap saved the pens the second time more than crosby did. sure didnt hurt to get him
I'm only showing this because you said if: <img src="http://hockey.ballparks.com/NHL/PittsburghPenguins/new.jpg" alt=" - " />
It's a done deal. Prep construction has begun.
There's a waiting list for tickets in the new building.

Once you start learning the NHL doesn't revolve around the Pens the more respect you'll earn as fans.
once you start sticking around to see the Cup being awarded to the league's champion - your team or not - the more respect you'll earn as a real NHL fan. only bandwagoners and cry-babies bail when their team loses the finals. a true hockey fan can appreciate the special moment that is the hoisting of the Cup, no matter who is underneath it.
Sorry, I don't make Pen's/Wing's real fan credentials. I'm not watching the cup on home ice or touching the cup until the Caps have won it. I don't care if my ashes have to be dumped in it.
I also believe Lil'Jon has ruined the Thrashers karma for winning a cup anytime soon.

yup was at game four… it Konstantinov, who prior to the limo accident he was involved in was the real heart and soul of the Red Wings… his lose really hurt that team
this picture would have been taken shortly after Wings won that game, lots of empty seats already.

You have a spot to put all the worthless things we should know!
But at least you were smart enough to recognize that the West will win the Cup again this year.

I'd have a little humility. I'm chalking that up to the inferiority complex.

i just dont understand the relevance of a hypothetical situation a quater century ago. youre whole banter relies on lots of 'if'
Funny you guys seem to forget about this time last year!
Pens' Pittsburgh Future Still Unsure
The golf pic is cute. But remember, the Pens didn't make it out of April last year either. Sid could be out there too a week later. Oh, that's right … that's the past. I'll take the lower draft pick rather than one and done.
one day i'll have zogsisnotaleftback.com

1. Detroit
2. San Jose
3. Calgary
4. Dallas
5. Anaheim
6. Colorado
7. Minnesota
8. Vancouver
Admittedly, SJ/Ana/Dal could split a few different ways as far as who wins the division, but just imagine it. Detroit's offense vs. Luongo. Calgary and Kipper vs. a resurgent Colorado team. Dallas and Anaheim in a series worthy of being the West finals. And heck, Gaborik might be able to help the Wild steal a game vs. San Jose. It'd be an incredible first round.

Current East:
Devils
Canadiens
Hurricanes
Pens
Sens
Rangers
Bruins
Flyers
I can't remember a year when the 6-8 have been as good. Best stategy in the East?: drop to #6.
It should be a great playoff in both.

Canadians/Bruins would be an embarrassment too. Pens/Sens would be a dream 4/5 series.
Originally posted by Julian, good manners AFICIONADO:I think you are discounting the Bruins. They are far from consistent & you probably have the 10 goal game front & center - but they are capable of playing very tough when inspired. Have given the Pens big trouble this year.

I don't want to see the Sens again. I don't think I have ever seen a team throw the switch like them last year: Struggling in & then steam rolling to the finals. Until they got rolled. (which yes - does suggest that the West is pretty good.)
My dream series: Pens vs Caps. Like I said very early: it's showcase hockey: up & down the ice - olympic-esque. If only the Caps would do their part…
