Congrats to Ovie for be given the NHL 1st Star of the Week.
2nd time in 3 weeks Even the normally Caps-dismissive
Bucci predicts Ovie will win the Hart. And Boudreau a second for the Adams.

If you followed the NHL you'd know the Sens are the real choking hazard.
Started the season with the best NHL record ever. Now it's actually possible for them not to make the playoffs and the Caps taking the 8th spot.

I have a weird feeling that if the Caps make the playoffs, its as the SE Division champs and the #3 seed. I think on pure points alone the SE Champs (Carolina OR Washington) would be in 8th place.
I'm all for automatic bid into the playoffs, but a terrible division champ shouldn't leap to #3. Take the West: Detroit, San Jose, and Anaheim should be the top three seeds. If the seeds hold, #1 Detroit would have to play Anaheim in the second round while #2 SJ would get the #3 seed who will be ALOT worse then Anaheim, both in the standings and in actual ability – not really fair. Perhaps the fair compromise is the basketball system where the 3 division champs are assured no lower then the 4th seed but if a non-division champ has a better record then a division champ, they're ahead of them for the #2 or #3.

I would be happy if they make the playoffs, no matter how they get there or whom they would have to face if they do make it in.
Who to say the hated Penguins would eliminate them again?
The Penguins are expected to win and the Caps would not be, so I think that give the Caps the edge.

I would hate a Pens/Caps series for two reasons. (1) Because the level of "discourse" in this thread would hit ridiculous lows, and (2) because a SidTheKid/AO playoff series would have EVERY game televised by Vs and I wouldn't get to see any of Wings vs. whoever-in-the-first-round in HD.

a point gets the division and #3. all they have to do is not lose in regulation.
i've been at the last three home games, and i'll be there tomorrow night. the energy at the verizon center this week has been incredible. for a town of usually casual fans, the "red out" has been pretty intense.
i've never seen the caps play the way they are playing now, and i've been going to games since the rod langway era. there were a couple of times many years back when they looked good, but nothing like this. they are really coming together as a team. if they keep it up, i can see them making a decent run in the playoffs.
