were you that kid in High School who talked with the fake British accent?
no but…
the family spent a year aboard in England when my brother and I were in elementary school. we both came back with accents and were sent to the school's speech therapist because our teachers thought there was an issue with the way we talked… the note that came back from the speech therapist was that they wished they could talk like us… accents faded pretty quickly
also my anglophile card has been temporarily suspended because i spelled humor without the extra u

I watched one or two episodes of the Wire but couldn't take all the cursing. I did love Homicide and Treme.
Edit: meant to put that in the Flies thread but guess it works here too
I enjoyed Northern Exposure when it was on but can only imagine it has not aged well. I had two housemates who were from Germany, we used to gather around the little TV for Northern Exposure and Seinfeld.

I never saw Northern Exposure in its time, and can confirm it is currently unwatchable.

I don't like excessive cursing, be it at home, on TV, in song, anywhere. My dad cursed excessively, always in anger, never in humor, and it was disgusting.

not sure if this is prestige or not, but jon stewart is back on via apple tv+.
'The Problem With Jon Stewart' takes a serious leap into advocacy journalismhttps://www.cnn.com/2021/09/30/entertainment/the-problem-with-jon-stewart-review/index.htmlJon Stewart Isn’t Laughinghttps://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/jon-stewart-thr-cover-story-interview-1235013623/He understands if you are delighted by his return to TV. But like the subjects he'll cover on Apple's 'The Problem With Jon Stewart,' his comeback is a little more complicated: "It’s 'The Daily Show,' but less entertaining — but also maybe more complete."there are
clips on youtube, and they claim the first episode will stream for free but i can't figure out where/how. time to fire up the torrents…

We watch Apple TV+ on our Roku
Looks like streaming from the app to a chromecast device would work
It’s also available on a number of smart tvs

Looks like 4.99 a month
Also works on PlayStation and xBox
It comes for a couple months with the purchase of apple stuff
And it’s free for t-mobile customers for a year
It’s free for six months on PS5

if you're going to try being a populist candidate, you need to listen to your constituents:

Ayyyy this board coming through. Nice to have something good coming from the T-mobile account inherited from the old family plan that I ended up stuck with…
It's lame, living in a world of conveniences, but I've missed Jon Stewart's voice. Probably a lot of it is nostalgia really, I hear the reviews are middling, but I hope that they give him time to find out how to deliver the best version of the show that he wants to make.
I miss a lot of the also ran politi-comedy shows that came and went (Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, The Nightly Show during the short time that it began to hit its stride and Wyatt Cenac's HBO show). I've never been super fond of Samantha Bee's delivery and to this day still find Trevor Noah a bit hit or miss and a little too cutesy and hamming for the camera.
Also, I am still a big fan of Scrubs (for a show that ran for 9 seasons, it feels very overlooked due to the period of television that it existed in; modern in sensibilities and tastes, but old fashioned in much of the plot and storyline), so I'm glad that Bill Lawrence has managed to have something currently well regarded in Ted Lasso.

I was very pleased when Heilung showed up in Squid Game, until they turned out to be horrible people.

Northern Exposure always pissed me off because of it being called "the next twin peaks" and it was anything but. Did have a crush on John Corbett tho…
