The Bella Fayes - Far From Discos

I highly recommend this band. I discovered them by accident. You can find their web site here. I guess Far From Discos hasn't been released yet. It is their best, I think.

The National ~ Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers
I also had that out this weekend & thought nearly the same thing…sounded very good. Still haven't had a chance to see them do their thing live though.
Did anyone go to the Longwave, The National show at Fletcher's on June 17th? I wanted to go SO much but had numerous conflicts I couldn't wriggle out of…
Man, what a pretty album. I'm still regreting being too lazy to make it to the Iota show…

She was the lead singer of the Wild Colonials…

nothing great, but a decent listen now and then. You should be able to find one of their albums in the dollar bins.

Thanks to the kindness of forum members, I have been spinning these two albums with great regularity over the last two weeks:

The former is a heavy, hard-charging beauty of an album full of screaming, distortion, and noise. It's definitely an "album" also. Took a couple of rotations before it bit, but now I'm sorry I couldn't make their show last week.

The latter is a hard rocking beauty of an album full of screaming and wailing guitar. I agree with Pollard's observation that it does a good job of capturing their live sound. Alternative Teenage Suicide is destined to become a crowd favorite.
