The Potato Thread: Potatoes in the News

but still, any attempt to enjoin numbers-based logic and our favorite vegetable gets a big spuds up from me.

An e-scooter rider’s eye has been surgically removed after a bizarre attack from a flying potato left him permanently injured.

"…the potato was thrown – or potentially “fired” – from a passing car by one of its occupants before it struck the alleged victim in the eye."
^ that is EXACTLY why we need more potato awareness.  this thread is doing god's work.

Trump, who attempted a coup to remain in power but whose ability to come up with childish nicknames for his rivals apparently still scares Republicans, is reportedly choosing between two for Ron DeSantis:

dunno if this qualifies as "in the news", but it's the gawdang truth:

a few weeks ago the fam and i hit up Rainier Nat'l Park.  we got there early to a mostly-deserted parking lot.  i mentally picked out a parking spot and as i got there i found… a single, solitary potato.  just sitting there.  waiting for me to run it over, maybe.  the poor thing has clearly spent the night there, alone, cold.  i could hear it calling to me, "i… neeeeeee…. hot… oil…. or at least a pat of butter and some chives!"
