Fun fact…did you know that Sweet Potatoes are not even a Potato!

They are a root vegetable that belongs to the morning glory family.

also are botanically very distinct from yams as they are sometimes called here

The ‘caviar’ of potatoes: These are the world’s priciest potatoes

These artisanal vegetables are grown in sandy soil fertilized by seaweed on an island off the Atlantic coast of France. They’re so delicate they must be harvested by hand, and they’re only available 10 days a year. These are the Bonnottes de Noirmoutier, and they are one of a kind.

VLAM's new campaign aims to spur young people to eat potatoes

Potatoes remain the main meal filler in Flanders. But its consumption is declining, especially among the younger generation. VLAM wants to ignite future generations' passion for fresh potatoes. They want to ensure this tuber remains on Flemish families' plates. The campaign is, therefore, targetting independent millennials (18-34 year-olds).

The 'Potatoes - Prepare to be surprised - Europe's favorite since 1536' campaign wants to inspire youngsters. It wants to want them to work with potatoes. Various, custom-made activities have been planned to achieve this.

The younger generation spends a lot of time online. The campaign will, therefore, be run there. Together, the partners have contributed 100 modern recipes and 40 cooking videos. These prove it is not time-consuming or difficult to prepare potatoes. They show you can make tasty, hip dishes with this ingredient.
potatoes are as lit as that Heilung band!

Can I Grow Potatoes in a Traffic Circle? Seattle says 'Yes'!

i like the idea - seattle has a surprising amount of little traffic circles in the neighborhoods so it's a good use of urban space.  and i suppose potatoes or any other underground crop is the best choice, since cars won't be depositing exhaust on the edible product - but still, i don't like the idea of eating from a plant that was grown by the side of the road.  eww.  just eww.

blackberries grow wild around here, they take over wherever trees have been cleared - like the side of a road.  highways are lined with mile after mile of blackberries.  there are literally tons available, free for the picking, but i wouldn't touch them…

When I did about 150 miles of biking around Seattle, I gorged myself on those road side treats
They were the ones on Bike Paths…so probably not so much soot

The sweet potato remains the tuber of choice for Julian's America, reports The Packer:

Income and age continue to define sweet potato purchases. The likelihood of a purchase increased according to income for the eleventh straight year, with shoppers in the top income bracket being among the most likely to buy sweet potatoes overall.
