The Anthem

Oh, and I have no idea what Metro did with the extra $100K last night, but there was exactly 1 train to Glenmont between 11:30 and 12:30.  And that was at 12:30.
I know! I had to wait 30 minutes fir my train…just grateful to get home but didnt need to see cubs fan gloating
PS, with the heads up about the mermaid, saw her swimming up in the pool as we entered.  SUPER fun.
WHO EATS DINNER AT A ROCK SHOW?

If you expect food service at a sold out, max capacity show, on opening night to be a priority, you're greatly mistaken!

GIMMIE SOME TENDERS AND A SOFT PRETZEL.
Erm…I had a hot dog.  I wasn't expecting a macadamia-crusted dover sole filet with asparagus and a satiny gribiche.  The venue offered food, I ordered food, they had trouble producing…food.  If you had ordered your tenders, you'd still be waiting for them.

Food service attempt #2.  The cash registers were properly transmitting orders to the kitchen last night, but they still haven't quite figured out how to get the food to the people.  This system isn't working.  I finally got mine when somebody from the kitchen came out into the crowd, took my receipt, and found my food on the counter.  My number was not listed on the whiteboard, so more than likely, I was given somebody else's food that matched my order.  Fixed my problem, but I'm sure caused major headaches down the line…

in the finest tradition of under-informed blowhards such as Trump and Julian, i'm going to take all the credit for this:

I think the food issue is a problem they may not solve right away. We ordered within 15 minutes of opening and waited until 7:30. The orders, when they came up,  were in a totally random fashion. Added to the mess was the fact that they have no way of announcing which orders have come up.

seems to me that that last part could be solved with a $10 whiteboard.

we'll get there
:) thanks - I'll keep trying!
has anyone made a "kneel before the Anthem" joke anywhere?
There is in fact very little to complain about.  It's a great venue like everyone is talking about.  But - the food AND beverage service is a little lacking.

The food service on the Tues soft opening was… is retarded too strong of a word?  We ordered two items (grilled cheese sandwiches) and were told it would be an hour.  Two and a half hours later the bartender had five items.  None of them were what we ordered. He offered that we could have whatever we wanted from the assortment, or be refunded.

So - I told my friend I was taking Thursday night to not come hungry.  But, the credit card only payment system bit them in the ass.  The systems went down with about 10 minutes to go in the Struts' set.  To me this is of course a prime time for drinks - not missing the headliner, and beating some of the line in between sets.  They told us we couldn't pay cash.  As a backup to the credit only system we can't pay cash? That seems a bit ridiculous.

Later one of the secondary bars ran out of paper in their credit card receipt roll.  My card had gone through - so, I tipped the bartender cash.  She didn't seem to mind that.

I'm sure it will all get worked out.  But, I wasn't the only one not understanding why we couldn't pay with cash when the processing systems were down.  I understand cash at a 6,000 person show may represent a security risk at the end of the night.  But, no cash at all - they were turning away money for 15 to 20 minutes.  How about credit only as long as the credit processors are operational?

Other than that - awesome venue - can't wait to go back again.
Do the bars accept bitcoin?
how about wampum?

I'm guessing 8:15/8:30 as some of them are DJ'ing at U Street at 11.
