The Anthem

A guy I talked to randomly at a bar recently tried to tell me that before the foos soft open they had an opening for friends and family that was even smaller…like 150 people…. I really find this hard to believe…could he have mistaken it for some other private event around the same timeframe?

This guy was full of interesting stories about meeting Bowie etc. Unfortunately I don’t remember all that much….

Wasn’t there a soft opening where it was rumored to be Fugazi but it was just the Messthetics and maybe like Andrew WK? Wasn’t that before the Foos and not close to capacity?

I went to both.

Right on. Maybe that’s what Hutch’s mystery man was referring to.
Yes I was there for that…but while that was for @friends and family it wasn’t only 150 people or foo fighters

I think this guy was misremembering but he seemed darn sure and said he was there

Maybe he got the soft open with Andrew wk mixed up with foos

This seems the most likely explanation. Very unlikely that none of us — especially you working for IMP — heard nothing about the is for seven years. But I guess no way of knowing for sure unless Seth deigns to comment on this.
Mystery man said his name was “Bob” and works at Hank’s on wharf (used to work at Hamilton). He told me to drop by Hanks but I am antisocial.

Then later that night I met a guy who works at Hamilton music venue. He told me to drop by Hamilton but I am antisocial.

I usually never meet anybody after working at Anthem. Just hang out with Anthem staff so this was exciting.

Right…and with time Bob came to believe it was a much more intimate cooler shindig….
Well next time I’m at Anthem, we should hang after.
Of course..that would be great…am usually at Brighton.
Going to Air…will swing by after. Anybody else up for a boardie meetup?
Ha. Well that one I am attending hopefully with my partner so we can meet at show. Probably she will make me go straight home afterwards.

Should be a fantastic show. Happy to hang with and meet up with boardies!
I'll be at Air too
I'll be at Air as well, but with a group of friends celebrating one of their birthdays…but say hi if you see me.
The NYE 4-pack email mentions a magical FWB-only lounge at the Anthem! Hoping there's a special corner roped off exclusively for forum members!

"Both ticket packs come with four tickets and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight, plus special FwB lounge access at The Anthem"

This is a cool way to arrive (but last return is 8:45)

no but you could conceivably take a kayak down rock creek to Georgetown and catch it there
