Lifeline???
Impossible to really explain On Cinema IMO, but it's basically a movie review podcast / show hosted by fictional versions of Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington that's somehow overtime developed this insanely complicated world, complete with tv shows based on the review show, movies, bands, books, annual Oscar specials, and their own TV network.
Putting it in hutch terms, its like the Robert Pollard discography: impossible to really follow in depth unless you're an insane sicko

Just realized Space has the word Free in his name. Is that on purpose or coincidence. Sorry if I'm late to the game.

who would have thought that Drunk Dracula, was one of the highest tickets in the dc area on this site
and got me depressed as it said the Cult tonight made it down to $39 (although I'd checked and it was in the high $70s)
The Cult just aren’t a good live band.
I still regret missing Hope Sandoval at sixth and I to go see the cult at 930. They put on a short perfunctory performance. Lesson learnt.

I’ve always thought Justin Tonation has the best forum name.
Guess am dense, care to explain?

hard to
to me it's all about billy duffy honestly, and I'm totally biased from my 16 year old hatch fanboyism
now I wasn't that excited to see them at the warner, seated far away, for expensive prices and kinda got my fill on that tour 5 years ago, but I can see missing Hope would be a regret. Did she tour with JAMC ever, or is she only on that one song?
Fun Fact, Rick Rubin's work on Electric predates the Licensed to Ill release (LtI was released first tho) Ian randomly heard cookie puss (which rick actually didn't produce) and just tracked down rick's phone number and called him up. They were only supposed to remix 1-2 songs and that is what the execs agreed on. then the band and him decided to just re do the entire album with out the record company knowing or approving

I though Ratiocination was a good one or something like that I think it was ratio nation
Yes

But thought I saw them one additional time….now I can’t remember…
Mazzy Star toured with JAMC early on
It’s weird how many of these old acts seem to me to overprice tickets…I guess they think demand is price inelastic. Is it? There must be research on this.

Probably varies depending on show type….
jebus it was actually 2013, in my head this was only 5-6 years ago, reality was 12

I have done it more than I care to admit
but I will say, some of these acts that I saw in the 80s, sound way better in the last decade and play the songs people actually want to hear so there is that
Pavement comes to mind, and in my humble opinion New Order. that show at the anthem sounded 10 times better than the Jones beach show I saw in the 80s

I'm learning a lot about economics of touring, especially for bands coming over from the UK. Work visas for artists now run about $10k, and unless you get creative, that's how much each one for each band member is. That doesn't include crew. Then factor in transport, overhead, hotels, gas, payment to crew, etc. And THIS is the only way bands make money now…so every ticket sale is key. Does it seem like merch prices have risen astronomically overnight? By the time promoters and venues take a cut, that again leaves less for the artist. If you want to find opportunities to see bands, more and more are doing house shows where maybe they sell 50-80 tickets, but every dime goes to the artist. They usually get a free place to stay. Free food. Free alcohol. And every dime of merch they sell, they get to pocket. Not glamorous, but it's work and people get a more intimate experience and can usually interact with the band more easily too. Anyway, that's a very long-winded way of saying that it's going to get harder to see bands that you love as time goes on. Shirley Manson's speeches on their current tour sum up a lot of what even a successful band like Garbage faces, especially if they know they need to keep ticket prices at a decent level.
