Offspring drummer says band axed him from tour for not getting vaccinated

<insert predictable snark, "oooooh they did him a favor", etc etc etc>

interesting case study: a member of a band has a preexisting condition that makes vaccination a risk and his doctor tells him to not get vaxxed.  having band and crew 100% vaxxed is rapidly becoming the industry standard.  so essentially this guy lost his job due to his unavoidable medical status…

I challenge the premise vaccination is a risk.

I've a co-worker who can't get the vax due to a compromised immune system and her Dr's told advised her to not get it and mask/social distance as much as humanly possible…indefinitely :(

I have a  person I know that was pregnant, told not to get the vax while pregnant due to pregnancy and pre existing condition, went into labor >>> delivered baby >>> got sick while in hospital >>> died. 38 years old.

Definitely the worst covid story I know of.

I, too, have decided that I’m not doing any more shows for the short term. Not worth it for me.

Hoping for a quick turnaround but am not holding my breath.

And that is the worst COVID story I’ve heard so far. Good lord.

From what I've seen of case numbers, and as you already know, the Delta surge is far worse in states with low vax rates. While cases have gone up pretty much everywhere, states with good vax rates are seeing far lower case numbers than they did before the vaxes were available. Reinstated mask mandates, etc. are just erring on the side of caution. I don't think the new mandates will last anywhere near as long as they did before. For the DMV, Delta is a strong aftershock after The Big One.

The disparity between, say, Florida and Maryland is no doubt significant. And while the new cases are almost entirely of unvaxxed folks, I can’t take chances.

Each of you will decide what’s best for you.

So all these shows that are scheduled in DMV…are they all going to get canceled/postponed…this is not the Hot Girl Summer I signed up for

I saw Bobby Bare Jr cancelled a little tour but of course he was playing to virtually nobody so no skin in the game


I think artists and promoters are not going to cancel and it will be the local governments that do it if it happens…and I don’t think they will at this point

But festivals are a different animal entirely
