I'm curious as I've never been to a freefest. How does the seating work? Do the free tickets come with assigned seats? and to the $50 ones have better seats?

Seats are first come first served. I think the first year it was hard to get in the pavillion in that you might have to wait. I don't think the other years it was very difficult. In fact one year they grabbed us off the lawn and told us to go into the pavillion.
No assigned seating because there are two main stages. Other than the first year when Blink-182 was on the bill it's been easy to get into the pavilion. And they clear out the pit between acts. There is a second outdoor stage in a field. They had VIP tics the firs. year but not since….
Wouldn't you rather go to the Deerhunter show @ the club (same night, early show, $20), anyway?
If I cant get Freefest tickets I might do Deerhunter/Crystal Stilts at 930 Club then drive over to Dan Deacon/Future Islands/VideoHippos at the Ottobar. Nice little mini "fest."
Facebook has taken away all the fun of forum watching on big pre-sale days ;)
Can you believe some one is trying to sell these freefest tix for $150.

WTF? I'm a Virgin customer and I just found out about this. Had tickets for the last three years, only missed last year.
I'm going to shoot off an angry email right now.

I got a pre-sale invite from virgin mobile with a different password than the one from 930 club pre-sale. Not that it did me any good but if you are a virgin mobile customer you should have gotten one as well.

it's free brotha, don't be a wanker.
And it was only the presale…
I am not even trying today. I like a bunch of the bands but if I want to go I can always pay the 50 bucks a pop to see the show. They should make it a straight donation or whatever as I couldn't care less about the t-shirt or the unlimited soda.
argh the dreaded waiting room!!!
I had them in my cart, but server crashed in check out…. looks like it went through though. Worked for me, but definitely they were slammed.
Persistence paid off!
Per Virgin Mobile facebook they are all free'd out. O well

man, who do I talk to about getting an appointment with Yoda, my ticket grabbing powers are soo f'n weak
finally get through and only the $50 tix are left…think I'll pass
No luck for me again this afternoon. Too bad. I would get halfway there, and then a capacity/site-maintenance screen would kick me in the other direction.
I was able to get in and procure two tickets. But every step of the way I would get a server error 503. That was in the waiting room, During check out, and Even during confirmation, But somehow my persistence paid off and I was able to get mine. My refreshing skills were on point!
