Virgin Free Fest returning to Merriweather

Hot diggity, time for the rumors to start flying about headliners.  ;D
Lineup could not possibly be worse than last year.
I didnt like the headliners, but St. Vincent, The Hold Steady, and The National for free was great for me
yeah, maybe the chili peppers will headline . . . but they won't actually be there.  it's a whole new thing that bands will all be doing, but the peppers were the first.  a whole field of kids with headphoned i pads downloading the show from a secret location, pausing when they want to for beer and bathroom lines, then right back to the song they left off on.  the chili peppers have been giving away clues online all month where their secret location really is and contests so you can win backstage passes to meet seth and thatguy.  golly gee.
Honestly, my only suggestion is Phoenix headlining the second stage and a couple Daptone Record acts.  The few acts I'm excited to see live anymore rarely tour the US.
Franz Ferdinand was really good at last year's VFF

Pavement + Phoenix

the strokes and mgmt ftw
throw in there a little bit of yeasayer and black mountain, for the mix…
A Fall Out Boy reunion tour seems more likely than all of the good acts y'all are suggesting.  ;)

Unfortunately, I have to agree.

That being said.. I'd still love to see Iggy and the Stooges at vfest again and I'll make my usual request of Hum (this time they're atleast somewhat active, doing a Memorial Day show in Chicago).
And be sure to beef up the sound on the lawn, it was pathetic at best during Weezer's set.

From a strictly selfish point of view, it would be nice to have a paid VIP area if only to be able to get out of the sun on the second stage.
GREAT….. that lawn was awful last year. Please make the sound on the lawn louder as suggested. Please make sure the Video screens are in SYNC with the actual sound, or just move the bigger bands to the other stage where it actually felt like more of a festival. Those are my only suggestions.
Lineup gets worse every year, Good Charlotte headliner maybe

But real music fans go to a festival for the undercard, not the headline grabbing headliner.

There were actually MORE bands last year that I actually liked, or had a marginal interest in seeing, than any other year.
Well thankfully we can eliminate Jack Johnson from the festival.  And if Good Charlotte is buried in the middle of the Bamboozle Festival the chances of them headlining Free Fest is slim.

It should come as no secret that summer festivals line-ups are made up of a few select Major acts filled in by what ever acts are on the festival circuit.

Basically one off appearances at festivals are very rare in the US
Public Enemy were awesome, probably my favorite of the day. Left before Blink came one (thank god) because I was incredibly drunk and walked away from the Girl Talk travesty and I saw some dude pass out and ended up with his wallet and lost my awesome sunglasses. I've been to 3 of the 4 Virgin Fests and at 2 of them I've shaken Richard Bronson's hand. Unfortunately or not so unfortunately I also met Flavor Flav. I liked the vibe and would probably end up going again, I probably spent more time walking around seeing everything, dancing at the dance stage, and drinking more than seeing any of the live music. Can't wait to see the line-up, hopefully blogs and Facebook won't blow up with the password again this year.
