Virgin Free Fest returning to Merriweather

pavement doesn't even seem like a guess anymore.  if i was a bookie, i wouldn't be taking any bets on them.

i'd like to say soundgarden or FNM for the main stage headliner with pavement headlining the second stage.  leaning towards SG.

LCDSS is a solid guess as a #2 for the second stage.  always a bridesmaid….
if LCD plays, I hope they still do a show at the club. Their performance in 2007 at Vfest was so underwhelming; the energy from their shows can really get lost in the open atmosphere. That and the crowd was lame as hell and barely moving.
i'm afraid of having LCD back at the club: their last gig was deafening.  one of the loudest shows i've ever heard at the 930 (iggy and the stooges being the loudest i've experienced).

hum… i feel a new thread coming on.
Just wondering… but has there been any real evidence of Pavement or do people just randomly guess it a lot… I see the same thing on the Bonnaroo and Coachella forums all the time where the same people guess like U2 or Neil Young or something again and again until it becomes a foregone conclusion.

Edit: I'm guessing its because there's no date and people can't imagine they skip it… but is there anything else?

My random pick/wish is Gaslight Anthem. Also Joan Jett was on pollstar awhile back.
My guesses (some obvious, some educated, some wishlist):
MAIN: Soundgarden, The Strokes/Julian Casablancas, Joan Jett, Raphael Saadiq, Rival Schools
SECOND: Pavement, LCD Soundsystem, Ween, Temper Trap, Mayer Hawthorne
that second stage line-up looks a little too stacked, but i'd be REALLY pleased with it.  i might go catch some strokes, but otherwise i'd be camped out all day at stage #2.
based on their tour schedule:

Sept 21-24 - New York, NY - Rumsey Playfield
26 - Atlanta, GA - The Tabernacle

Either they will play Freefest or the 25th is their day off/travel day. I mean, if they played Freefest, that would be 6 shows in a row…that's just insane.

based on their tour schedule, the Gaslight Anthem is a strong possibility…
1. Joan Jett
2. Crappy 90's band (Pavement, FNM, Soundgarden could all fit this bill)
3. Something WARPED tour-esque, for the kids

why are there no leaks?!?!?  any guesses? gimme 3 guesses?

mine are:

Pavement
LCD Soundsystem
Sharon Jones & Dap Kings

My out-of-left-field choice is Gorillaz.  They're playing Dublin the Wednesday before.

Big show…Albarn's Virgin connections…Good headliner (Look, members of THE CLASH!).

Gorillaz, Pavement, Strokes.  My guesses.

I am hoping that the Violator (Lou) puts the band together (Motley Lou) and plays.

I really hate Apatow/Seth Rogan/Russell Brand/Jonah Hill/"they're comedic GENIUSES"-type of comedies.  So, I thoroughly enjoyed that one.  I bet it's even better in extended/uncensored form.

"One little change has a ripple effect and it effects everything else. Like a butterfly floats its wings and Tokyo explodes or there's a tsunami, in like, you know, somewhere."
"Yes, exactly. You step on the bug and the f****** internet is never invented."
"Oh, then you'll have to talk to girls with your mouth."
"Yeah. No. I was more concerned about bigger consequences like not being born."
"Yeah. No. I don't care about that."

Maybe they will get Kevin Shields to crawl back out of the hole he seems to have crawled back into?

Yeah, wishful thinking.

No one is too close to the action going down.  Pavement was supposed to play in DC September 25.  Dunno what happened but I see them at Virgin Fest.

Yeah, wishful thinking.

They don't let him out in public anymore since he performed "Bomb the Pentagon" at the club mere months before 9/11.

Speaking of which, I'm pumped that Richard Branson is announcing the line-up:

"Hello, darlings…I'm coming to you now from Virgin Airship I, the Virgin space shuttle.  We're just finishing our final approach and are about to land on The Mall in Washington.  WATCH OUT FOR THAT MONUMENT!  Kidding, I'm kidding.  Get the champagne ready, Rico!…"
