This isn't exactly a just-announced show, but I am going to NYC to catch the Fri. 9/11 show by the New Zealand dub project the Black Seeds, who are opening for John Brown's Body at the Bowery Ballroom.

I just love the Highline Ballroom. One of my favorite venues, possibly because Ive seen so many great shows there. It will be a great show :)

Only been to Santos once, but I will say they have awesome, helpful staff that work there. And The Morning After Girls sounded really great there.

For what it's worth…

I really enjoyed Basement Jaxx when I saw them DJ at Buzz/Nation circa 2000, and when they played live (with Ugly Duckling opening) at the 9:30 Club circa 2001.

However, they did a live set at the Big Chill Festival (in the UK) the other week, and it seemed like everyone who saw them said they were awful.  (I wasn't there… but the consensus seemed pretty universal.)

So let's hope they still have it together on the DJ side of things, and/or that the bad live show was an anomaly.
