Also, they decided to continue, post-COVID, what were essentially reduced hours. I don't know if it's a chicken or egg situation but closing at 6PM on weekdays doesn't seem like a profitable retail strategy. When attempting to help promote a couple of local shows, I had to dip out of work to attempt to talk to anyone or drop off flyers. But again, did they do it because they lacked the funds to stay open until 8PM? I can't say. I will say this. . . Joe's Record Paradise has been keeping the same sort of hours so. . . Everyone loves to lament.
CD cellar in falls church went from closing at 8 to 6 during Covid and stayed that way but honestly they didn’t get much action after 6…..other than me!!!

Record exchange being in downtown silver spring and next to Fillmore ought to have been closing later but who knows…
The closing of Borders and Discover moving to NY were a one-two punch that downtown SS is still suffering from.

it's amazing how far this thing has gone and reported back
it's 46 year old tech!
just amazing

Also talk about a extra special collectors item LP
https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/golden-record/

Just think, the Aliens will get to hear chuck berry before they ever see a human!

Rumors of voyagers demise were greatly exaggerated

On 4/20 V1 sparked up a fatty and said “I’m back bitches “

Amazing… this thing was built on tech from nearly 50 years ago and is still working, I can’t seem to get an iPhone to work for more than 4 years

nah, in april 2 of the four systems communicating with earth were responding and even then I think it was just 1's and 0's
now all four are up

this bucket of bolts, who is outside our solar system and they built on pre-internet tech from the 70s
is operating at full capacity
(original mission…to photograph moons of Jupiter)
I'm sorry, but that's really kind of amazing
that the chuck berry record is on there is just the icing on the cake here
Definitely amazing

it is not operating at full capacity. in order to save on power, they have shut down several sub-systems: "Due to the diminishing electrical power available, the Voyager team has had to prioritize which instruments to keep on and which to turn off. Heaters and other spacecraft systems have been turned off one by one as part of power management. The fields and particles instruments that are the most likely to send back key data about the heliosphere and interstellar space have been prioritized to keep operating. Engineers expect the spacecraft to continue operating at least one science instrument until around 2025." (wiki).  first sub-systems were shut down in 1998, they've slowly been pruning away ever since.
