So are we going to blame the bolder here, I'm not sure that Flav didn't incite it

Somehow I think Michigan will survive without the commitment of the 1017th highest ranked player in the country coming out of a school (Belleville) that hasn't produced a good player since like Ian Gold in the mid-90s.

I'd bet a pinkie Michigan never sent this kid a letter of intent he could fax back in and lock his spot up with. His other offers are Marshall and Eastern Illinois.

so what - a scout in the boonies went rogue and gave him a verbal/informal offer?

Well, all offers are informal/verbal until signing day.

Most kids are told by schools some variation on “keep improving and doing well in school and we will have a spot for you” and then sometimes it goes south. Sometimes a school just decides last second they don’t want a kid and that’s kinda shitty. Sometimes they’re telling the kid “hey you need to improve” for months and are telling them they likely won’t have a spot — this is called “getting processed” in the recruiting world — and sometimes the kid listens and finds another school early in the process and sometimes they don’t listen or think they can turn it around and are left on signing day without a commutable offer. This sort of fluidity happens at every school every year and lots of kids turn up not getting an offer letter on signing day to send back and to save face the kid “decommitted” they don’t say “they told me they didn’t want me after all.”

You never really know the details. Talking about a recruit before they sign is an NCAA violation which leads to people only getting the kids version since Michigan (or whatever school) can literally never publicly comment on this since the kid does not sign with them. (This rule bizarrely has led to many kids claiming they have offers from schools that they’ve never spoken to in an attempt to raise their profile — the school can’t refute. One kid had a “signing day ceremony” to Cal a few years back despite never having met a Cal coach. It’s wild.)

Cy Vance retires and no Trump indictment…coincidence?

so much for our liberal rally cry  “Cy Vance is gonna get him”
George Carlin famously said ‘It’s a big club and you ain’t in it’.  Well, those two are in it

there is some interesting gossip around this.  his wife said she wanted out because she doesn't "want to be married to someone changing the world"- suuuuure, that's the reason.  that tiger hasn't suddenly changed his stripes…

there are indeed many negative interpretations… and many neutral or positive ones.
- want to gather more evidence, strengthen the case, etc.
- would be complicated to transition from one DA & their team to a new DA & their team, so late in the game (ran out of time to hand off)
- new DA asked Vance not to
- etc.
