actually 4 left this season
Michael Longfellow
Devon Walker
Emil Wakim
to revisit my statement, I like Heidi (although some of her characters do grate a little), I just feel like when ever someone leaves SNL, someone dunks on them that they didn't like them was my comment

I think it might have been better if she had run. Democrats could have ran the clip of her saying “hey we are all going to die!”
Anyways she is a horrible person and will not be missed by anyone.
Hard to believe what has happened in the Midwest with democrat support cratering. We used to be competitive in places like Iowa, Ohio and Missouri. Now, even in free and fair elections, we wouldn’t have a prayer.

i don't share your pessimism, at leasr not yet. the GOP won big in 2024 on "it's the economy, stupid." well, i'm quite worried what state the economy will be in this time next year in terms of my personal situation, but it would be fertile ground for Dems. i think there are going to be a lot of Iowan who lost their farms and meat-processing jobs by then.
there are already
positive signs from Iowa:
A Democrat has won a special election for an Iowa state Senate seat in a district that had been held by Republicans and had voted heavily for President Donald Trump in 2024, adding to the Democratic Party’s hope that it can flip more seats during the 2026 midterm elections.

Read Sabato’s note from yesterday. The climate for democrats has worsened in that region. But maybe it’s true that it’s not hopeless…

Not really hard to believe. The party of the working man has become the party of the trans woman.

The weird thing is if democrats would shut up about trans rights a little they would win elections and could ensure……you guessed it…..trans rights!
The democrats just don’t know how to play politics.
Let’s stand up for illegal immigrants who…..you guessed it….can’t vote….and piss off those that can!
Brilliant!!

I suppose most people saw that Arlington county schools is suing Trump over government withholding $23 million that would mostly go for school breakfast and lunches for low income kids AND services and counseling for special needs kids.
The reason cited is Arlington school system policies vis a vis trans students

the are selling the parts
our short experiment Arlington Independent Media has been put to bed
https://www.arlnow.com/2025/08/29/aims-entire-broadcast-studio-goes-up-for-auction-over-70k-in-unpaid-taxes-and-rent/Rasmus Auctions, operating by order of Arlington County Treasurer Carla de la Pava, describes it as “a rare chance to purchase fully operational broadcast equipment from a working studio.”
WERA, AIM’s flagship low-power FM radio station, stopped broadcasting its lo-fi beats last month. The organization’s website — which last month directed to a page reading “bandwidth limit exceeded” — has come back online, but it displays only the AIM logo with no text or links.

The only Dems that are focusing on trans issues are assholes like Mayor Pete and Gavin Newsom who are agreeing with the right! You people are delusion about this. Really sinks how that, if the forum and all of us existed in the mid 50's, the lot of you would be complaining about civil rights

weird as I don't see Hutch's response as that at all
I think what he was saying is the support for trans rights is there in the Dem party, but it doesn't have to be a tent pole of the party
If they get elected and in power, as in the past, will work to protect trans rights
One thing the Dems need is the independent voters who keep swinging right
It's pointless to have this hard stance on principals if you can't get elected… just shouting into the void
As an individual, you should not do that, but when running for office, you have to make a collation and compromises

Sure he does. He thinks I'm a racist piece of shit because I don't think humans born with a penis should be allowed to participate in girl's track and field. He also thinks my daughter is a racist piece of shit because it makes her uncomfortable to share a bathroom with a human who has a penis.

You have to win elections or it’s just pointless. You don’t have to run on issues you are unpopular but once in power you can do things. There are plenty of examples in American politics of politicians who did things once in power that people didn’t necessarily agree with or expect. It’s called leadership. But you have to be elected first.

Totally agree, but not sure how Democrats have run on this issue in the past. Have they? It seems like the Republicans were the ones who ran on it in 2024.
