was on my list…but missed Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle… which would get a 7.5

I didn't think Daddy's Home was that funny
never seen Blockers, but it looked like it might be good
we watched The Florida Project last week - really good albeit a little sad - and a good Willem Defoe appearance

In fairness to myself, the Daddy's Home movies are my daughter and wife's jams.
The Other Guys almost made my list.
Being "A Friend Of Judy" has nothing to do with it . . . Judy was a sad incredible hell of a film.  Academy Award for Renee was so well deserved.
Watched this -again- and found it funnier than ever and maybe a bit more relevant given the past year

Finally got around to seeing the Deer Tick movie. Enjoyed a lot. Didn't know that McCauley's dad was a RI politician who, like a lot of RI politicians, ended up in jail, sad I missed out on the early days of the band which look wild. ANyway, its pay what you want.

is it me or does this sound like an epic train wreck in the making

Greta Gerwig will next collaborate with Noah Baumbach in co-writing and potentially directing a live-action Barbie film, starring Margot Robbie in the title role.
Yes, that sounds pretty awful.

I know those two are supposed to be critical darlings, but I haven't liked a single film either of them have made.

Not true, I have posted many films I liked in this thread.
a barbie movie can only go one of two ways, and both are indeed awful:

1) they'll continue with barbie's 1950's era fantasy: a vapid blond that just wants to have simplistic fun.  awful for obvious reasons.

2) they attempt to rehabilitate barbie's image as a supposedly modern, intelligent, empowered woman - ignoring her history of fostering horrible mental and physical stereotypes of women.  i suspect this is the tact they'll take.

you have to wonder who this movies is targeting.  neither my 7 y.o. daughter nor any of her friend have any interest in barbie.  as far as i know they don't even own any (i can confirm this after spending the past week of winter break supervising play-dates).  if they're going to tap into mom's nostalgia for her childhood toys… not sure how that is going to work.
I had read originally Amy Shumer was to play the role and it was going the #2 route
but now that hottie Margot is in it, not sure that works

The number two rou….OH the number two route! Yes, yes.
Jesus and the Black Messiah on HBO Max. So good.
The Hunt for the Wilderpeople.  On Netflix.  Same director as did Jojo Rabbit, and What We Do in the Shadows.  Also documentary on HBO called Class Action Park, about a water park in NJ in the 1980s is excellent; especially for us older guys who grew up without the parental/adult supervision we see today.

went to Action Park a bunch in my youth…honestly was surprised there weren't more deaths/injuries
Haven't see that doc yet
You should def check it out since you went through it first hand. I'm sure it will bring back tons of memories.

Thumbs up on all three of those.
