it just seems shocking to hear so many people say that "businesses will eat the tariff and not pass it on to the consumer"
I've better faith that we'll see trump impeached than this scenario happening

Inflation continues strong no matter what Trump says…unfortunately Trumptards only care about owning the libs when Trump is in power…not inflation or deficits….its hard to combat that mindset

what's more likely is that businesses will increase prices by
more than the tariff amount. price hikes aren't popular, but they are necessary - so businesses will use an excuse such as tariffs to sneak other hikes they've had on the backburner, raise prices to keep ahead of inflation, pad the bottom line, etc.

I hate to agree with you….
Although if they cross the line Trump will implement price agreements and maximum price controls. You just wait… they lend themselves to his fixation with appearing tough and with deal making even if it will all be bullshit.
Crazy thing is all the government deficit spending will create more inflation as would the lower fed rates Trump seeks. But I do think Trump likes the idea of inflation as a way of liquifying debt and not just the national debt…his own too.
So it’s a balancing act. He wants things that will lead to inflation - and he knows it-but wants to appear tough on inflation. It’s all about appearances and pulling the wool over peoples eyes…. I also expect that if inflation continues the inflation numbers will be futzed with.

But he doesn’t cause there is also the fact that he loves debt! Everyone should know that as it’s been his modus operandi for five decades. Take on debt and find ways to get out of it.
Lower rates would also help him refinance and take on more debt. A tiger does not change stripes at 78!!

I agree with all this. This is one of the smarter analyses you’ve ever shared on here.

Merriam-Webster @MerriamWebster‘Booty’ and ‘butt’ are synonyms.
‘Call’ and ‘dial’ are synonyms.
But, a ‘booty call’ and a ‘butt dial’ are VERY different things.
