That is amazing. Only slightly less amazing than the fact that Deadspin is still around.

All the classic Deadspin staff left in protest and started a site called Defector (that is mostly paywalled). Deadspin is one of those bookmarks that I just haven't gotten around to deleting. The current staff, just frankly, kinda suck.

I know it’s fashionable to kick Larussa around and maybe he turns out to be an awful hire but he did win like three World Series….

And Hank Aaron was the all time HR King but I don’t think he should be on an MLB roster either.
The dude is 80, a total cultural mix match for the Sox roster, and clearly has an alcohol problem.

Marcus Stroman, in his age 30 season, taking the $18.9m one year qualifying offer has to be the craziest thing I've heard in MLB in a long time

New York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano has tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug and will be suspended for the entire 2021 season, sources familiar with the situation tell ESPN. He will forfeit a $24 million salary

In-It-To-Win-It with these guys?
Snell might be worth a gamble. He had one amazing year but nothing before it or since. Darvish is a .500 pitcher.
Ya can’t win anything without pitching, though.

Nats sign Kyle Schwarber to 1 yr 10$ million contract
Rizzo approach seems to be to gamble on players that had a down year last season that they will bounce back when things get back to normal
Same as Josh Bell

The Dodgers landed Trevor Bauer.
I'm going to go find a bridge….
three-year deal with opt-out provisions after year one and year two of the contract, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand adds that Bauer is guaranteed a total of $102MM on the deal, which includes a $40MM salary in 2021 and a $45MM salary in 2022

who decided that opening day should be on april 1? hard to take any of this seriously…
… like the fact that the texas rangers are the only team that is filling their stadium at 100%. every other team is at 50% capacity or less (Nats were going to let in 5K, out of a possible 42K, so ~12%). yee-fuckin-haw.

It’s hard to take “sports” seriously in covid times… the competitions are all messed up.. inequitable
If there was a World Cup this year I would take it seriously but that’s it…thank god there isn’t

It really is. I like sports as much as the next guy but there is a level of disengagement. My alma mater really choked away a Final Four spot earlier this week and I went "huh. oh well" and went to bed and people keep asking me how I'm doing about it and I'm honestly like "I haven't thought about it at all??"
