I like the National but driving back for two hours after a show is a total buzzkill for me.. I did it once for Ween… never again

95 minutes from the National to my house, when there's no traffic, late night.

Though while I'm teleworking, a Monday night is basically the same as a Saturday night.

Tickets for Spoon at the National are $27.50, atthe 9:30 $45

Lol… $17 savings is definitely worth the 95 minute x 2 hassle!

That's the equivalent of $5.37 / hour. If your hourly salary is greater than that, it's not worth it.

Depends on how many tickets you're buying and if you have a desire to do other things in Richmond on a Saturday.

Honestly. I probably won't go to either show. I like Spoon, but not enough to pay $50+ per ticket, or drive 3+ hours round trip.

I never understand arguments like that because you're not driving to shows during work hours.

Because it's assanine to drive 3+ hours to save $17.

if you sign up for our email list you get first crack a little earlier https://spoon.ffm.to/signup.

also Richmond @the national on 4/9 on a Friday

4/9 is a Saturday.

Will 4/10 be added as a second Richmond show or a second DC show?

How does the National compare to the 9:30 in terms of user experience?
No way they get a second Richmond show. They moved like 600 tickets when they played there 3-4 years ago.

The National is fine as 98% of all venues are fine.

But it lacks that 9:30 club special sauce.
Do they have cupcakes?!?

There’s no secret sauce. The 9:30 Club is fine as 98% of all venues are fine.

Well if they only sell 600 tickets for the National show, that would be a plus when comparing it to an ass to mask sold out 9:30 show.

they closed food food :(
Space, the National has been open for like 15 years and you haven’t been once but have fun at the show…
I was in Richmond recently and realized too late that Talking Pink Phish was playing that night. Damn shame.

considering the very next night they were in Towson, seems like an easier show
NOV 14, 2021 THE RECHER
I saw Cracker at the Flood Zone in I think 1992…. The Flood Zone was the 930 equivalent there for a while… Cracker was just starting out… I remember they played eurotrash girl which wasn’t on the first album but I was struck by it…I think Lowery lived in Richmond…it was a nice club but I barely remember it

Many other bands

I think the last show I saw in Richmond was Bob Dylan at the Mosque…nice place….before the show I took a friend to my favorite hangout when I was in college there - the third street diner - and it had turned into a totally different place …run down…roaches…pretty sure ownership had changed…that was a bummer

It’s just far to drive for a show also happening in DC…

that logic only works if the two activities can be substituted for each other, i.e. on that saturday night you can either a) work and earn $5.37 an hour (or more); or b) choose to drive to the show instead.  also assumes you're an hourly wage worker and not salaried.
