Aren't you guys tossing around the word "scum" rather lightly?

Married guys who go to strip clubs and get lap dances are scum.
Wait a minute. What about "lonely single guys not in any sort of relationship?" Being called "scum" on a Friday would totally ruin my weekend.

This should be another thread, but since most of the people on this board are passionate about seeing shows and have purchased a LOT of tickets, I always wondered what everyone would come up with if you (collectively) tried to come up with the fairest possible distribution of tickets for a given show. Rules, suggestions, etc. Be specific. Lord knows, there have many hundreds of solutions that venues and bands have tried. If we can map the human genome we should be able to come up with a way to equitably distribute tickets to those who really want them and minimize scalpers.

I strongly think that the band is in on the "Front row tickets wind up on Stub Hub before the presale" situation. Revenue is down and if a band can make another $20,000 a show by giving some of the best tickets to brokers, then they'll do it. It's not fair but I think that's what happens.

After my experience with the Cure presale yesterday, I have to say I am utterly disgusted with the concert industry. The Cure puts on a presale and offers a password through their web site, which you have to sign up for so you think "hey, this seems legit…maybe I'll get some good seats!". Ticketmaster holds the presale, and yet only single tickets way in the back pop up (both initially and after a long while). Boardies can't get anything better than what, maybe 35 rows back?
The seats weren't all bad. There just weren't many of them. People were pulling up seats as close as row L, from what I read. I managed to get tickets in Section 1 myself. The presale was probably just a little bit of everything. Some good. Some not-so-good. I got the "nothing available" message a couple times, so there weren't many seats to go around in the first place. Or the demand was actually pretty high.

There's no excuse for starting 20 minutes late though.
No, you wouldn't qualify. Your weekend is saved.

but seriously, why are you hating on us? Just because I want to go w/ my friends makes me evil? Its cool if you like going to concerts by yourself, but I don't….
You fucking scumbag liar. And to think, I defended you against the attacks of others on this board because you claimed you weren't scalping them. bnyced0 I owe you an apology.

nike4o1 I hope your girlfriend gives you her herpees. Not only are scalpers scum of the earth, but you even lie about it. Cocksmoker.

Good lord - you make chokey chicken look like a nice guy, and I didn't think that was possible.
Apology accepted, and as big a prick as this clown is, just think if the majority of us would have gotten stiffed for the show on top of it? I'm a pacifist in general, but my "kill the phuckin scalper scum" exception would have been in play.

My opinion on these clowns is well known so I'm not going to launch into another tirade, all I can say is sad, very phuckin, sad…..
I preordered Zeitgeist through iTunes and have a pre-sale Ticketmaster password that is good until 10:00 PM tonight for the Fall tour for up to 4 tickets.

I've been to two of their shows the past few weeks and will not be going to any this Fall. If someone would like the password please contact me through my website at xhtmled.com and I will send it to you.

***EDIT: The password has been sent to someone and is no longer available.

Ate you saying concert tickets are as dangerous a drug as crack? Come on. I know some people on this board are addicted to going to shows, but I would argue that it's less harmful to them than crack is to those who are hooked on it.
no. just stating that just cause it makes you money, doesnt mean its a good thing.

Perception becomes reality on a message board and just for the record I want to state the I have NEVER in my LIFE received a lap dance. I'm like Morrissey at a strip club. I hand each entertainer a single gladiola as she steps off the stage and then retire to the corner where I gently sob.

Finally, we have the answer to the "why is Brian so angry?" question.

re: scalpers - please move to NY which has now legalized scalping (or at least theyre trying to). im pretty sure venues, artists and everyone are now in on it. i mean why on earth make scalping legalized - aside for the fact our lovely mr spitzer thinks it puts everyone on a level playing field.

and if the guy sold his SP tix for 4x the value, whoever paid for it, boardie or not, are truly idiots. this is why we still have so many scalpers, because most of us have a value on how much we'd spend for an artist that is usually an exorbitant amount. at some point, people will just have to realize they are shut out, and accept they didnt get tix (i dont do this well either). but its reality, or we can all have this lovely ny way, and have scalping legalized and we can all try and make the same money.

on that note: maybe i should sell my pit interpol tix for MSG once this show sells out. ok dont get your panties in a bunch. there is no way in hell ill be selling those tix! :)
He actually sold them for 8x face plus. The 4x reference was to a single ticket being sold to cover the cost of a pair. The guy and his 'woman' each got a pair. They sold the extras for $250 each. Then had the purchasers queue up hours ahead of time and hold a place in line for them.

ah ok. well i didnt say i agreed with him - im anti scalpers, but who on earth would pay that much money is what boggles my mind more and do all that. i just cant imagine paying that kind of money to see the dandy warhols, if i couldnt get tix (DW = my fav band). well perhaps, but just not likely.

ding Ding DING!

yeah, it's called free market economy…last time I checked, it was a good thing…although this scalper as well as his customers are all clearly ass hats!

can this thread be over now? (my posts have been known to kill threads in the past)
