Rumor: Smashing Pumpkins at 9:30 Club July 10th

HAHAHA, that's awesome! they initially only announced sunday and monday night shows, which sold out within seconds (i managed to get a pair of orchestra seats for the sunday show, tried several times again on another computer and only got "no seats available"). i'm certain that scalpers bought up a lot of tickets for these two shows. then they announced the friday show… and i'm willing to bet that once it sells out, they'll announce a saturday show. they're doing the same thing in boston.

so, if you want to see the pumpkins in philly or boston: keep checking TM until the fourth show is announced, or wait until shows get closer - people will be dumping tickets. there is obviously enough demand for two nights in these cities, but i'm thinking that four nights is close to too much… there won't be anyone left who's willing to pay big prices.

nice one, although it might suck a little for folks who bought crappy balcony tickets instead of waiting for the other shows to go on sale.
I kinda doubt a Saturday in Philly. The Pumpkins usually don't play more then 2 consecutive night.

they are in one important aspect: the source decided to offer them to consumers at a specific (and incidentally below-market) rate for the latter's benefit, not for intermediaries' profit.

artists and clubs are almost universally against the practice of scalping. must be because they're all communists :p
Disaster relief is not "offered to consumers." It is donated to specifically designated people. Concert tickets are offered for sale to the general public (or at least that portion of the general public with a credit card). Moreover, disaster aid never enters the market in the first place.

Really, you couldn't have chosen a worse analogy.

offer: â??verb (used with object) 1. to present for acceptance or rejection; proffer
consumer: â??noun 1. a person or thing that consumes

and it wasn't meants as a perfect analogy (equivalency), it was an example of market forces not always dictating price - or the need for them to do so. people seem to think that market forces are unstoppable, the be-all and end-all, and can't ever be questioned <insert bleating noise>.
sweet. about the friday show, especially since i slept through the general onsale this morning for the sunday philly show.
crap. balcony.

didn't know that (although really, how many 3+ hours shows in a row can you expect a band to play?!?). their schedule would allow them to add a thursday show in philly.
i am so obviously not meant to go see them in philly. ticketmaster hates safari. argh. i give up.
so explosions in the sky are opening for smashing pumpkins now?

WTF?

Moderators - this has gone on long enough. Can we lock this punkins nonesense and move on please?

There wouldn't be this much hysteria if Elvis rose from the dead.

i say "woohoo!" EITS + SP sounds like a great bill. a little bit of a stretch, sure, but maybe billy is hoping to buy himself some cred by adding EITS to the bill :)

well, might be wrong there since there is definitely demand for three nights - they're all sold out now.

i didn't realize threads had expiration dates.

"moving on" is a great piece of advice, mankie - but i it appears you don't take your own advice. is there someone with a gun to your head forcing you to read this or any other SP-related thread? just ignore them. sheesh  reminds me of people who listen to howard stern just so they could get insensed and call in to complain.
My comment was made tongue in cheek, but some chump always takes the bait.

Howard Stern is soooooo 20 minutes ago by the way.
Is it just me or are the Pumpkins both overrated and dated? They occasionally rock, but mostly it's some whiny-ass shit they crank out.

that's exactly what a friend of mine said.

i don't know. i wish i'd known about the eits opening fact BEFORE tickets went on sale.

You pretty much just described 95% of all indie-rock.
You just stole a line from the Rhett book of quotes.

Still, Doctor Doom was spot on with his comment.

Did I do a good job pulling "spot on" from the hipster handbook?

guilty. sorry, i had few signs to go on… it was hard to tell if you were being old and curmudgeonly, or just being old. i should have known that you couldn't have been serious - after all, you started yet another unsufferable moz thread (and he's only half as talented as corgan).
This show was just star studded. Amy Winehouse on bass, Imogen Heap on the keys, and John Cusack on guitars.
