"Irregardless is a word sometimes used in place of regardless or irrespective, which has caused controversy since the early twentieth century, though the word appeared in print as early as 1795. Most dictionaries list it as non-standard or incorrect usage, and recommend that "regardless" should be used instead."

it's a tie, with righteousness and convention on my side (unfortunately yielding no points).

It is remarkable how many self-described descriptivists will bristle at the sound of irregardless.

Yeah, don't see any section giving any benefit for being righteous
Sounds like this is how we are going to break the tie

five minute overtime with Golden Goal IN effect.
If still tied after the overtime period, 5 Penalty Kicks by each team will be taken.
If after five kicks the score is still tied, teams will continue with Golden Goal Penalty Kicks until a winner is decided.

I'll put this here:
Jamie Lee Curtis@jamieleecurtis
In case you thought 2020 couldn’t get any worse, Merriam-Webster just officially recognized “irregardless” as a word.
Face screaming in fear

I think Miss P and I are doing this. Talked about it last night.

tix went on sale today.  lineup seems very bottom-heavy…
a better, and cheaper, reason to party outdoors in chicago this year:

why does Chicago get two fests and DC can't even muster up one
although I'm not a big fest person
Chicago - the second city- has many more people and is basically THE catchment area for the entire Midwest?

DC is only four hours from New York

They have way more than two.

Lollapalooza, Riot Fest, Pitchfork, Chicago Jazz Fest, Chicago Blues Fest, Spring Awakening (EDM), Some Labor day hiphop/EDM thing whose name escapes me.

I think there's some sort of Grant Park classical and world music free series in Grant Park all summer (their version of Kennedy Center).

Chicago is a major cultural hub and the third biggest city in the country, and as Sweets accurately laid out: the catchment area for all of the midwest.
oh yeah Riot Fest too

typically 3 of the best lineups of American fests
in case you needed an excuse to party in SoCal:

Wow I guess Thievery Corporation is done with their hiatus?

They couldn’t have timed it any better

Jane’s Addiction too!

Wait wut? Men at Work??

And a sidehatch favorite,  Counting Crows!

I thought the same thing. The “hiatus” announced at that show we were both at was clearly to make time for the two principals to tour around their solo projects and it appears they’ve discarded that idea and going back to making some money. Haha.
St Vincent w/ Spoon
(not coming to DC…yet)
https://ilovestvincent.com/pages/tour
Perhaps we could get a Spoon solo date on an off-day.
After further listens, I'm reversing course and I'm on board with the new St. Vincent album. I'd go to a St. Vincent/Spoon show if someone gave me a ticket.

Sleater Kinney still sucks as much as they always have.
