This is what worries me about the weekend match-ups.  Boston has nothing to play for and will probably rest their regulars.  New York will have a lovefest for Tex and will probably really enjoy knocking the Orioles out of the playoffs.  The Tigers will be without a DH and might have to play a game on Monday, so it's not all bad.

At this point, the Red Sox could finish with the #1, #2, or #3 seed. It seems like they would want to sweep the weekend in the hope of establishing home field advantage for as long as possible?

They're 2 behind the Rangers, so #2 seems possible I guess.

well that is precisely why.. you nailed it.. since there are only 3 games there is no time for make ups… i mean the wildcard game starts the day after the last game right? Detroit has a game on October 3.. the wildcard game is on October 4 so there are no extra days to take stock and play a rain out… I guess they could have them play a doubleheader but that seems a bit rough too, right?
