The America Great Again Thread

Trump has a World Cup trophy behind him in press conferences for the Oval Office

I think he got it from Putin, but does that really matter

Yikes he just said the VAT is the same as a tariff
Then… “we are $36tril in debt… because we make bad deals “
That’s not why we are in debt… but we are in a post-fact era

Oh and Canada… just one state… so only 2 senators for all of it
“There will be a lot of pain, for them” yikes
Really we need to give them about 10 senate seats so they become five states and expand house to 635 (long overdue and Canada would get about 65 seats.:.house districts are too populous…this expansion of house would equate to roughly one member per 600k instead of 1 per 800k….its the right thing to do)
I mean Canada’s population is about 10% of ours….

The wrinkle are Canadian rights…you can’t just take things like guaranteed healthcare away… the idea should be to bring up American rights on certain areas to canadas level…

It’s complicated though…but the idea is a negotiated merge….not violent conquest
not enough has been said about china and their 'silk road' initiative
They have been doing infrastructure upgrades all over the 3rd world (also bankrupting the locals to pay for ports/dams they didn't ask for)

but it is economic imperialism that flew under the radar of the Monroe doctrine

So if Trump puts up real roadblocks to this …I think that's a good idea
Absolutely right.
And Canada caves…..
i wonder if anyone has informed trump that if canada becomes a state, there will never be another republican president nor House

You sure?

Would be a pretty big win for Trump if the US annexed Canada. Not to mention are you saying continued democracy is guaranteed under Trump?

The fact is Denmark, Panama, Mexico and Canada all backed down today.

sure aboot that?

what exactly did canada have to give up?  "increased border security" via a $1.3B investment.  in late 2024, canada announced an border and immigration investment of… $1.3B.  canada got trump to back down by waiving in front of his face something that they were already doing. oh, and trudeau will name a "fentanyl czar"  ::)

trump is the one who caved: after he saw the uproar & someone finally explained to him the consequences of his actions, he needed an out. he'll claim that promises of canada doing what is was always going to do is somehow a win.  his followers will swallow it without question, bask in his glow, then move on to the next manufactured crisis.

also, fentanyl doesn't enter the US through canada so 100% interdiction will have zero effect:

The vast majority of fentanyl seized at U.S. borders comes from Mexico.

In 2024, more than 21,100 pounds of fentanyl was seized by U.S. authorities on the border with Mexico, compared to only about 43 pounds seized at the Canadian border.
(source)

also, WAY more fentanyl enters canada from the US, then enters the US through canada. gee, who's the real problem here?

so, to recap:
- trump got nothing new
- trump went on the anti-fentanyl warpath against a country that doesn't contribute to the problem
- trump "solved" a crisis he created - brilliant!

finally, last week trump claimed the tariffs were about the "unfair trade deficit", but is now claiming a victory on fentanyl… where did those goalposts go?!?
Look I know you hate Trump but after the way Trump has been talking about Canada Trudeau’s actions are a pretty blatant and pathetic cave.

This was never about fentanyl but about asserting US primacy and muscle. We all know that.

The real negotiation will come once Trudeau’s replacement is in power. This is about establishing who is whose bitch.

it would absolutely be a big win for trump - among those he's already won over.  not sure about how much goodwill he'll get from moderate republicans, independents and dems for annexing canada.

no, the reason why there would never be another GOP prez or House is even if canada was made a single state, it would permanently tip the balance of power blue.  canada is majority progressive/liberal + canada's' population is greater than california's = no way the GOP can win a national majority again.  even today's 50-50 senate wouldn't be safe with two more solid blue senators.

valid concern.  i'm still hoping that american institutions will be strong enough to withstand trump's onslaught.  hopefully we get a Dem House in time to limit some of the damage and preserve democracy.  TBD.

that certainly is one interpretation.

that is a complete cope.  "trump got played but he looked tough, so next time it'll be completely different and he'll REALLY win!!!"

"we all know" isn't wasn't about fentanyl?  so it's not about trade deficit, or even fentanyl, but it's about power moves?  funny how no one talked about that before trump caved.  saying this is actually about "asserting US primacy and muscle" (when even that wasn't achieved) is a pathetic attempt to polish the turd.
Well it’s the truth.

If a country disrespects you and you do something to placate them it’s a cave.

And all four caved…

Trump wanted to reassert American toughness and the whole “there is a new sheriff in town” thing

Now in the future when he asks for something countries may take him more seriously or not …we will see
a glimmer of good news but i'm sure it will be overturned

Church vandalized by Proud Boys now controls group’s trademark, judge rules

The Proud Boys is barred from selling merchandise using its name or symbols without permission from a Black church once vandalized by the right-wing extremist group’s members, after a Washington, D.C., judge on Monday revoked its control over the trademark.

can't believe they gave this guy a full unconditional pardon for his well documented seditious activities

“Their actions are a betrayal of justice, reminiscent of Judas’s treachery,” Tarrio said.

that is the real treachery!
dear american imperialists: great news! thanks to your messiah trump, you will indeed be getting a 51st state!!!

small change, tho: it won't be Canada.

it'll be Gaza.

congrats!!!
I’m looking forward to the country being divided between Russia and China
Glad I am not a USAID employee serving overseas. Can you imagine? The contempt shown for public servants is astounding.

Imagine you are stationed in Togo with a family and overnight finding out you are out of a job and needing to pull kids out of school and get back to the US?

this is the pain he spoke of, but it's targeted at liberals
You don't see massive military cutbacks

the thing is the average American doesn't understand is the massive amount of waste in the gov't isn't going to gov't bureaucrats
but it's those gov't contractors who make millions/billions a year working WITH the federal gov't with little to no oversight but a good old boys network that hands out the cash

why train and hire your own staff for $100k a year, when you can pay booze allen/lideos/Accenture $250k a year for the same person
