It is easy, and fun, being pithy, and this is one of the wooliest quagmires in foreign and domestic policy, but the difference is a party that engages in the realities of complex world politics and one that now assumes that they can stomp on it. I guess it comes back to the feeling of, "we need to make the Dems suffer and hear our voice", except now we have four years of who-knows-how wild policies and policy proposals ahead from a party lead by a leader who pays no lip service to bending an ear to those who can't obviously be of advantage to him.

and the alternative was the guy who said just move them all out and we'll create ocean front condos?
that's better?
Trump and the GOP could care less for the Palestinians, but you act like that's the best alternative to the dems
I think that is misguided
Don't get me wrong, dems are by no means perfect, but IMO the lesser of two evils

Did Sitting out this election help their cause

would you claim that you and your ilk who wanted to 'make the dems pay' for their evil ways
is getting trump elected and the GOP congress making things better for the Palestinians?
or was it just for vanity?
It's not pithy…it's politics.  The parties lay out their vision of the future, and you see which one improves your material conditions.  If one party was endlessly given weapons to a party that was murdering your family, and the party was going to also endlessly give weapons to a party that was going to murder your family, I think you'd probably not want to vote for either!

And it's not like that was a surprise…they telegraphed their anger through the Uncommitted Movement.  All Dems had to do was listen, but they didn't care to.  No ones fault but their own…they didn't have to fund a genocide of a core voting bloc!
See, this is what everyone gets wrong.  None of these voters think the GOP is the "best alternative".  They just know that, on an issue that is literally life or death for their relatives and people that look like them, both sides are the same and lead to the same slaughter.  They're not voting for Trump…they're just not voting the top of the ballot.

I think that hypothetical person is incapable of critical thinking or maintaining two considerations in their head at the same time.

You're truly the stupidest person on this forum. And that's saying something.
Ah, i made a different calculus. I didn't vote for Kamala because of sexism.

well the guardrails are holding

A federal judge has issued a temporary restraining order limiting the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing certain Treasury Department payment records, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal battle over government oversight and data privacy.

You seriously think that?? I can’t believe you wrote that with what’s been going on

First off: they already have the info….

well that is correct, but they don't have access to the system to stop payments which was the big deal

I think this issue is the way trump/musk are working is don't ask for permission and deal with it in the courts
then delay, defer, delay rinse and repeat until its years later and people are like "we're focusing on the crazy shit that happened in jan 2024, it's 2026?"

I'm just glad a federal judge has stopped some of what they were doing

This whole Fork in the road thing is such a cluster

I was hearing how this 'offer' is some what bullshit and there are so many ways they can screw anyone who accepts it
40k have accepted is what I'm hearing

one major loophole is something about March 15th and how that's when money is approved for these agencies
so any "we will pay you until september."..is just not true and they can easily re-neg on that fairly easily
and of course they created this quick deadline so it can't go through the courts prior to it

trust me, this was a small skirmish in the middle of one battle that we made some progress on

this is a war with hundreds of fronts, and they are really prepared this time and know all the loopholes in advance of any of these actions

Appears 60,000 had accepted

I'm pretty sure those 60K are now regretting their choice
Now he has a list of those who should get a pink slip immediately, with zero severance

Linkedin and facebook has become doomscrolling of those I know impacted by this (which is a lot)

there is reporting that Musk attempted to defund USAID on day 1 (jan 20) but couldn't pull it off, so he waited until last week when the right pieces were in place (Rubio as SecState, Biden-era appointees replaced, access to computer systems, etc.)

a possible reason why Musk is so obsessed with shutting down USAID:

It’s nice to know these sorts of people have access to our personal information.
