People like her get off on power not vacations… for her it’s like being exiled to Siberia.

Imagine seeing your old Fox friends getting cabinet positions and you get an embassy in a second tier embassy
I never said she would like it
Its just what I would do
You have platform high heels?

Kari Lake is a top contender to serve as US Ambassador to Mexico.

Good!

Let’s send them our worst!

we either dodged a bullet or this is a missed opportunity (to get rid of her for a while), but:

Trump picks Ron Johnson as US ambassador to Mexico

(no, not that ron johnson, a different ron johnson…)

lake remains too toxic
Oh no this guy seems too qualified! We should not be sending them our not absolutely worse!

Jez… these two deliver one last FU as they walk out the door

Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema have cast decisive votes against Biden's NLRB nominee. This means the Democrats will not secure control of the national labor regulator through 2026. These two Senators effectively handed Trump control of the board when his term begins.
you gotta admit…that's a pretty funny bit

you sense of humor is as iconoclast as your taste in music.
also he can't do anything about the price of groceries, but more than willing to lower the corporate tax rate…
trump's trolling is next-level, i'll give him that much:

Trump wants prominent election denier Kari Lake to run Voice of America

not only does this own the libs, it also owns kari lake: VOA is a lame participation prize, "what's the least thing i can give her while still giving her something…".  the political equivalent of being told, loudly, that she needs to sit at the kids table.
Hey this is good news

North Carolina’s Atrium Health says it will forgive the debts of 11,500 people — less than a week after NBC News reported that the company has aggressively pursued former patients’ medical debts, placing liens on their homes to collect on bills.

It’s amazing how often I find your takes completely wrong. It’s like you just post whatever you want to believe facts be damned. Being the head of VOA is a better prize than Ambassador to México. At VOA you oversee about 1000 employees and a budget of $270 million.

Oh and for someone with political ambitions being in DC is so much better than Mexico City….well who’s kidding who? for anyone really…
Yeah but the Ambassador to Mexico likely gets free F1 tickets when it comes to the Autodromo every year.
trying to take a deep breathe, but it's going to be many many instances of my blood boiling… today's it seeing RFK's lawyer wanting to the FDA to revoke the approval of the Polio Vaccine.. it's good thing we have such a great health care system… oh wait… nevermind.

All joking aside, I have gotten 8 vaccines updated in the last 2 months just in case shenanigans ensue. If I could find a doctor willing to give me the shingles one before age 50, I'd make it 9.
actually minor mea culpa because that NYT article was paywalled I didn't see the salient fact that this was past deplorable behavior by said lawyer, but there are indications that ratfuckery could still be afoot

here is a cat picture to atone for my rant…

well, at least we share one thing in common: it’s amazing how often I find your takes completely wrong, too!

in this case, i truly believe that ambassador to MX >>> head of VOA: trump doesn't care about VOA.  she will get zero percent of trump's attention there.  she will not have the ability to barge into the oval office with her concerns.  leading the VOA puts her in the outter circle of trump's orbit with limited opportunities to get face-time with the prez.  maybe she'll get invited to the christmas party.

on the other hand, immigration and the border were central themes in trump's campaign.  he's already talking about tariffs on mexican imports,  starting mass deportation, investing in border security, sending the US military into mexico to fight the cartels, mexico is now the US's #1 trading partner, etc - all things that have a big chunk of trump's mindshare.  the mexican ambassador, while not central to the decision-making process on these topics, will be part of the conversation.  there will plenty of direct communication between the embassy in mexico city and the oval office & state dept.  it will have more visibility to both trump and the public than the VOA.

i truly believe that kari lake would much rather be trump's woman in MX, vs. running a propaganda mouthpiece that trump won't think about.

this is attractive only if you have traditional career aspirations (i.e. you or i would probably prefer VOA over an ambassadorship).  kari lake wants power, not experience running a large organization.  she has political aspirations, and "former head of the VOA" doesn't bring clout.  an ambassadorship to the US's #1 trading partner ranks higher.  not drastically higher, but still higher.  also, it comes with a life-long title.  the power-hungry love titles.

agreed (!), but even more important for maga sycophants is getting time with trump, which, oddly enough, will be easier to do from MX than from down the street in DC.

i've been to mexico the country several times but never mexico the city.  developing world megapolises don't really interest me, and based on what i've read el distrito federal is falling apart in several different ways…
Yeah except your takes are always wrong. Harris cruised to victory and the Ukraine defeated Russia…

You are obviously well informed, successful and intelligent but you suffer from a common affliction of liberals: you conflate what you wish to be true for what is true.
