The America Great Again Thread

^Chuck, If you are the general mcclellan of the us senate
deep cut

the Scott Galloway interview that came up next was pretty good
https://youtu.be/I3JtZlSRMAw?si=1fBck51UOTMIi4_2
this line
"you could 6x the 'savings' that DOGE has uncovered to date by just removing the government subsidies to Tesla"

His silver lining was interesting…basically EU will become stronger and more united, the whole EU spends half of what the us spends on the military…because the US spends that much and they were an ally.  Now they will invest significantly in that sector and that will be an economic boon to the EU
I don’t consider defense spending really productive once you get to a certain point. And spending Europe does on defense will come out of some other spending so….

You might as well spend money paying people to dig ditches and then cover them up. Not all government spending is the same.

Now we are talking about efficiency, take out the middle man!
In the past they would have had a team evaluate the ditch location, then there would be environmental studies
then a beltway contracter would get an insane contract…which he'd likely sub out
after that we'd have to do the whole process over to cover it up

But if we had the same person dig it, then cover it up, think how much money we'd save
you should work at DOGE

also FTR, Galloways comment was more that 'If I had to find one silver lining of all this maga insanity"
but I do think defense spending typically helps the economy, but you are the economist here

chuck you cuck

anytime Trump complements you on a 'good move' he is really saying 'what a sucker'
Well it can help…I get that but it’s not as productive as spending on any number of other things..

No…I don’t consider myself an economist but thank you.

well I don't consider myself a financial advisor, but here we are
I really think Schumer has to go….not sure who could replace him….not Durbin please….someone younger and aggressive.

I like Schatz on twitter but does he do anything else?
So much for Schatz. Who can decipher this? I note two democratic senators who have recently announced retirement…Cortez Masto and Hassan aren’t up for reelection until 2028.

The democratic leadership provided 3 votes for cloture. It’s kind of hard for me to understand what is really going on here. Did these 10 take a bullet for more senators? MAGA only needed 7 so why did the leadership go along? Fetterman and Gillibrand seem to have been the instigators…

I’m not sure I totally agree, but the best explanation I have heard

@steventdennis.bsky
Schumer’s calculus is that the real fight and leverage is in the courtroom, where Congress’s prerogatives have been winning and slowing the Trump/Musk move to dismantle agencies. And that a shutdown would effectively moot those cases and let them eviscerate govt faster.
Easier explanation…these people simply do not care!  None of Trump's policies or actions will affect their lives in anyway.

Ok I get that but this about far more than “policies”….its about the unconstitutional manner in which they are going about it…about destroying institutions etc.

One can disagree about government cuts (policy) but one can’t support firing federal workers en masse without justification…to give but one example
I try to share the latest egregious thing the administration has done with my wife and kid, and they start yelling at me for leaving shaving cream in the sink.
This is a safe space for you to share, Space.
You shouldn't shave your balls in the sink. Have some decency.

Eww. I would not put a razor anywhere near my package. That sounds dangerous and gross.

#safespace
Oh wow I totally misread that!!! Space, are you guys ok?

My partner is concerned about “how did you become a US citizen???”

If you don’t hear from me guys I am probably in El Salvador and not on vacation…..

They looked like gang members is all we need to say

Also just in, I just declared that the guy who just left, yeah those pardons don’t count
It’s an interesting question….can he undo stuff Biden did claiming that Biden never signed it?

as a sit here listening to the new The Vapors album as they are singing "It Just Gets Better" which in terms of what they singing about it's a positive and well I'm using it sarcastically here

NIH officials have advised scientists to remove reference to mRNA vaccines from their grant applications, in expectation the Trump administration intends to abandon most research in the field.

we truly a nation being run by quacks, conspiracy theorists, blue tick medical experts and meme posters.

i'm sure the "I Did My Own Research" crowd will be cheering on this move, but personally I was looking for more DNA  re=arrangement and further microchip upgrades

so much winning

Legislation introduced by GOP lawmakers in at least seven states is aimed at banning or limiting mRNA vaccines. In some cases, the measures would hit doctors who give the injections with criminal penalties, fines, and the possible revocation of their licenses.
