Trump administration planning for surge in federal law enforcement in DC
welp, feds are coming in and enforcing the laws in dc, this is going to end well
do you think they will learn the goosestep?

Apple CEO Tim Cook gifts Donald Trump a custom gold Apple product, this is also known as a bribe in exchange for preferential treatment & likely federal contracts:
Without getting into possible ulterior motives on the part of Trump I welcome more police presence in DC. Since after the Covid lockdown it’s felt increasingly lax and lawless. Am sick of it. Even if murder numbers have come down this year the trend post Covid has been negative. And From a coworker getting carjacked after work to a friend getting beat up outside a Walmart or Target it’s just scarier in DC. Honestly I feel certain crime has been tolerated in DC for a long time. Am completely in agreement with Trump in charging teenagers as adults for violent crime. You run around with your posse beating the shit out of people you deserve to do the time.
I think Donald meant as long as they are black or not white

you trust two personal anecdotes over statistics.  got it.  violent crime in D.C. peaked in the mid-1990s and has since decreased by 62.5%… yet we are less safe today, somehow?  maybe it's not the crime or the city that has changed…

on this topic we need less emotion and more science & long-term vision, IMO.

teens aren't tried as adults because they aren't adults.  they don't (and can't) think like adults nor make decisions like adults.  also, their rehabilitation needs and potential for change aren't the same as adults.

calls for trying kids and teens as adults are all too often a knee-jerk reaction by those least in a position to make a good call on the subject.  i mean, why even have a codified justice system?  let's use public outcry determine how the accused are treated and what kind of justice they are dealt, amirite?!?
welp if the CEO of Intel had just brought trump a bar of gold, none of this would have ever happened

@realDonaldTrump
The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!

Typical pro crime progressive…Sweetcell you live in Seattle???

Of course crime was more during the Barry years. Am talking about the last decade not thirty fuckin years ago. Should we wait until crime levels hit Mayor crackho levels to do something?

so there is a kernel of truth here: the ceo of intel owns and/or leads several companies in china - a few of which have known ties to the CCP.  chip-makers have a national security role, so this isn't completely out of left field… but again, how it is being handled is, shall we say, less than optimal.

resorting to ad hominem really doesn't say much about the strength of your arguments, now does it?  i accept your capitulation.  moving on:

over the last decade, with the exception of 2023, crime in DC showed a steady decline.  2024 had the lowest rate of violent crime in 30 years.  DC is "doing something", and it's working (despite the horrible experiences your two friends went through).  the idea that DC is doing nothing and that crime is out of control is a trumpian talking point to seize more power.

we can surely say the possibility is not zero
Look we are not going to agree seeetcell. I remember last year I was following crime statistics DC puts out and carjackings and murders were way up. I understand murders are back down again this year but overall- from talking to people in DC- and you can say this is anecdotal- there is a feeling that things are not as safe as they used to be. I don’t go to the Union station area anymore but after Covid there was a substantial rise in homeless, drug dealing and people shooting up in the alley by Dubliners and Irish Times AND a feeling that the area had been abandoned. This is a few blocks from the capitol.

Moreover, a blind faith in statistics to me seems misguided. There is something to be said for people who live and work in DC and how they feel. They can’t all be paranoid! You are sitting in your nice home north of Seattle and you think by looking up crime statistics and comparing them to the crackho mayor years you know what’s happening in DC?
But what do I know I guess…could be wrong…maybe the city is very safe…that would be great
