The America Great Again Thread

It’s interesting considering there must be a Haitian American community in FL and of course a big Cuban American community and a big Venezuelan American community, that they are forcing many people from these groups -that sought and were granted asylum - to leave. I mean these communities are not happy and am surprised the Trump administration don’t seem to care. Don’t they fear a voter backlash in Florida? Is Florida so in the bag for republicans that they don’t care? Or is something else going on?

This is the opposite behavior of what democrats were conditioned to think: don’t piss off the cubanos or you are toast. Elian Gonzalez comes to mind…

So these things have to play on the national stage, so they sometimes have to make sacrifies

but I also think that statement above is kinda true
I'd say the political calculus is…the Haitian community hasn't been a reliable vote, although those who remain I'm sure will be now
I did see some people in the African American community start to make a stink about this, not sure it will have legs, but that could play on the national stage

Although simultaneously screwing with SS/Medicaid…yikes, I don't think their lead is that big

I also think for now, the Cubans are safe…The Venezuelan's, not so much

ya?  methinks Haitians will feel betrayed by the GOP and resentful of having TPS taken away from them when it is still needed.  to my mind, the GOP can kiss the haitian vote goodbye for a generation.

or did you mean a reliable vote for the dems?  ;D
Ok, did a little research and they are not only a reliable dem vote, they vote more than the gen pop

Haitian voter turnout was 73 percent, compared to the state's 64 percent overall.

So I was thinking about the Puerto Ricans who came to FL after the hurricane and ended up not really voting at all

But I did learn this Donald Trump won 20 percent of the Haitian vote in Florida in 2016

but…they were pissed in 2024….remember the whole 'eating dogs' thing
the hatians in Springfield OH
So any gains they made, they lost and likely will never get back
I can’t believe we had to wait this long… but it’s here

Trump fragrance
https://gettrumpfragrances.com/

This is not satire and I’m not sure how I feel about people who want to smell like the president
That’s weird

One industry that I think will do well after this presidency is the political collectible items will be an eBay bonanza

Some of these insane things could be the best investment you ever made
Before becoming president his main business was simply selling his name to different companies producing fake luxury goods for the masses. I mean he was always a bit of a failure in real estate.

I think these days he gets big money through other channels…. But the family continues these relatively chump change grifts cause they have no class and it’s just what they are used to doing.

I'm definitely not the office uniform type, and I love wearing  shorts at home, but can Trump please do an executive order that shorts are never appropriate office wear?

please include open toe foot wear for men
Lou Reed Rolling Stone 1989. Seems appropriate

FRICKE: Ironically, given the country’s increasingly conservative disposition, your work seems more drastic, more potent, than it did ten, fifteen, even twenty years ago.

REED: I think the cover-up of Kennedy’s assassination, then the pardoning of Nixon finished it for a lot of people. They said, “Well, we didn’t know it was bullshit before. We certainly know it’s bullshit now. So fuck it. Every man for himself.” No one gives a shit. They know they’re getting fucked. No time to take care of anything else.

This is also a lot of people’s attitude on Squid Game.

Also, Outkast t shirts and t shirts with a cartoon character wearing a cowboy hat and boots.
So does anyone think that Elon's 3rd party has legs, sure is in Trumps craw right now

I just don't think he has the stamina for that kind of stuff, but maybe he'll just throw a lot of money at it??

could really f things up in the mid-terms

I wish we had a legitimate 3rd party, but then sometimes you only need 35% to win, which obviously we don't want

I think if ranked choice voting starts to get more traction, I think 3rd parties might have a chance
Tough to say….doubtful given the people that support Trump aren’t moving….unless Trump sets them free.

And Bloomberg threw a lot of money at democratic primaries and went nowhere

Of course in a close election a third party could impact the results but not convinced Musk will throw billions at simply being a spoiler…

I suppose Musk could simply target certain House races initially

And not convinced we will have relatively free and fair elections next year much less two years later. I mean this new much bigger and massively funded ICE could well be his goon squad, gestapo, brown shirts or whatever….is there any doubt the Republican Party will support Trump no matter what? Even if he announces a suspension of elections as long as they retain their jobs I think they will go along with it. I mean did you see MacArthur Park?

People assuming all we have to do is wait for elections aren’t really getting what is going on….

This is true, but it is also an entrepeneurial and artistic attitude.  Create your own world. Don’t have delusions about what the world really is. For the Russians it is resignation. Maybe they have no other choice. For others it is inspiration.  Control of the micro level and an objective view of the macro level.

Lou Reed said it, and he certainly had a pessimistic side, but he wasn’t resigned.  He made his art, performed, immersed in culture, practiced tai chi, lived his life.  He had a positive effect. That is also an ‘every man for himself’ attitude.

i posted a scathing comment that is sure to change federal policy, just you wait!!!111
I can’t say this enough but I think they are preparing the American people for when they turn ICE on Americans that would vote democrat. Imagine ICE patrolling polling stations.

It’s crazy how ICE’s budget got increased. And anyone thinking Republicans will stand up to Trump at some point is smoking good herb. They are slowly but consistently ridding themselves of Republican senators and house members who might not go along with Trump’s every action.

It’s such a crazy time to be in America. I go to the post offices a lot and you should see the lines of people trying to get passports.

I used to read Nick Adams before deleting X entirely. It never occurred to me that he was anything other Sasha Baron Cohen-esque satire. An Australians fully committed to the bit of full MAGA bro. Honestly I don’t see how it’s not a character and how this isn’t like making Borat a real life ambassador.
